Timbo Slice
I didn't want to post a new thread for something that can be answered quite simply, but is anyone aware of whether there's a difference between <'98 and '99+ radiator fan/fan shrouds? I'm thinking about pulling one from the yard this weekend to do the JVC/BMac Fan Shroud modification and am curious about slight differences. Thanks

Thanks my guess would be yes, not sure on what the difference would be though. @andyb5 might know
Dick Dastardly
I don't know either. Just thought I'd chime in with that. 1 hour ago, Timbo Slice said: I didn't want to post a new thread for something that can be answered quite simply, but is anyone aware of whether there's a difference between <'98 and '99+ radiator fan/fan shrouds? Thanks Why not just use the one in your car?
Timbo Slice
I can but in the event that I fuck something up I don't want to be screwed. Plus, it'd be nice to get the new one from the yard, do the modification, and quick swap out the old and in the new. I'm pulling some other things from the yard and these things are cheap enough that I figured I'd just grab one in the mean time.
andyb5
Timo, the shrouds are the same. Now, that being said, it takes 5 minutes to modify your existing shroud. All you have to do is round off the top/bottom to clear the inside of the shroud. You'll spend more time pulling the spare shroud from a JY car than it'll take to modify yours. You've done far more complicated mods to your car, you'll be fine
Brad850
That mod was probably the easiest thing ever. I just used tin snips. Trim off the top and bottom lips like Andy said, flip it around, then re-install. This isn't my picture but that's literally all you need to do, and you don't even need to remove the fan like they did below.

gmsgltr
Timo - it will take more than 5 minutes. We all know that. Everybody always says... "it took me only 5 minutes to do that" Do it right if you ever expect someone to see any of it in your bay. Take out your current one, clean it very well. Get your dikes out and safety glasses and start cutting it up. Sand down the sharp edges and then spray it off again and THEN you are done. I agree with the others - its a waste of time pulling one from the JY though...
Timbo Slice
Thanks guys! And yeah Greg, I'm slowly learning that you and I both share OCD for doing things perfectly. I'm following your lead.

Fudge_Brownie
Worst case scenario, drive your fanless car around until you can get to the junkyard. If you get stuck in traffic, get out.
