Stormtrooper1
My rental agency now changed their system, and I have only 1 option to pay my rent, which charges a $48.00 convenience fee. WTF?
gilber33
My parents finally sold their house pending home inspection. Hopefully I'll never have a reason to return to my hometown after this.

LOL that's like convenience fees charged because you paid for something online like Ticket Master and Parking tickets. It's impressive. Call them up and ask if you deliver the money earlier or in person, can you avoid the convenience fee? Otherwise, if it wasn't included in the lease, can you refuse to pay the fee? ruecatinat
Jesus H, tuition in America is expensive! I have no idea how the quality of schools/education differs, but most Ontario universities (colleges to the Americans if that terminology is still correct), mine included, come in at under 10K a year for tuition! Yeah, I think I'll just mail a check in to avoid the fee. a $5 processing fee i can understand. (i don't like paying them, but whatever.) but after I've lived here for a year and a half, and all of a sudden they add this? one thing after another Yeah this agency sucks. I actually looked at another house they manage online for potentially moving to, and had an e-mail already written out to see if they'd be able to just roll my deposit over and maybe discount me since i'd be coming back. but then i thought of how much i hate having to deal with the agent, and how poor the service is, and i said screw it. not renting with them again. greasy
what school? major? my tuition is 52k. private, syracuse university. its crazy. i want to leave but im only about a year away and transferring with this many credits gets hectic. it is pretty weird how they give money out, my lab partner in one of my electrical classes is from saudi arabia and gets full tuition and his family is one of those saudi multi-million dollar types... certainly doesnt need any help putting 52k down a year... he admits this and just laughs how stupid most of our rules are... I go to the College of Wooster. Small liberal arts school in NE Ohio. I'm a Political Science- International Relations major. I got a "diversity" scholarship at one of the schools I applied to. I'm a straight, white, Christian, middle/upper-class male... I found it pretty funny. Didn't get any money from the school I chose though. Pops Racer
EE? Cool, will you be able to find a job right out of school? Manufacturing jobs are disappearing, and military/aerospace is also shrinking. 15 years as a plumber, your running your own company and pulling 6 figures. And you went to work right outta trade school, licensed. With 1/8th the educational costs. And connected to the building trades, as in you can get a nice house built cheap! And don't forget the cool white van with pneumatic ladder racks! I know a plumber who has a company prolly worth $5 mill. Took him 30 yrs. I would do the college route too. I'm just offering up real life. I'm an ASEE, and know the market. That being said, talent always gets hired. Of course its even better if you've got connections...hehehe Unions. Man, you gotta get a place near RI shore, if thats the case. Is Quahog near the shore? Edited March 5, 2010 by WINGNUT
Black Betty
My neighbor across the street is a plumber with his own successful business but it took him 20 years of hard work and he still busts his balls everyday. Even he says college is the right choice. Engineering students have some of the best job markets out there compared to other college majors, like criminal justice, or history. Both those majors are both so broad its hard to fit anywhere. Also any criminal justice major could have just started in law enforcement and worked up to the same position without spending redicolous amounts of money. That being said I have no idea why/how you guys could take on that much debt out of school, My number 1 choice was PSU but 24k a year vs 5.5k (after scholarships) helped my decision. That and the two engineering schools are ranked 16 and 18 IIRC so not much of a substantial difference.
BtownVolvo
where'd you go to school? Full Sail University. Between 2 years of school and living expenses I racked up roughly 80k. And living expenses weren't anything outrageous either. Yay education :monkey:
