So on your lunchbreak, you're still in the office environment and still being monitored by the internal network audit suite.... but you're on your lunch break for the next 30 minutes. Or maybe it's a 15 minute break, or maybe it's a 5 minute break... jeebus. Fuckin rocket science. Or maybe I'm waiting for a shitload of downloads to finish, or scripts to run, and it doesn't really make sense to start another task for the next 3 minutes. And if the job isn't hourly, no clock/timecard? You deliver the goods by the date or else. They'll get their product no matter how much time you spent on VS, or you get a nice vacation Did you even give this any thought before you posted? And obviously, there are people who push it and don't do their work and literally waste the entire day on VS. Their supervisors are obviously blind and have no expectations, or very little. Before the internet, if you were getting stressed out about something or your mind was stuck in a rut, you might go outside and stretch your legs. Take a walk around the building or something. Is there really that much of a difference? Sometimes I have great epiphanies about what I was doing wrong while sitting on the toilet But you're right, if you were out walking around the building all day, that's a totally different story. In some people's case, like the clown above, their supervisors clearly aren't given them enough work, expecting enough results, or expecting proper time-frames to accomplish a task.
