One of my "favorite" parts about riding hard in the woods is the next day, discovering all the little bruises and scratches that you have no idea where the hell they came from. I always manage to have small bruises on the inside of my knees from smashing the top tube, but I usually don't remember hitting it.

Falling down while stuck clipped in has got to be the least graceful thing I've done all year. Yes, I know where THOSE scrapes came from

you needs moar rims. and maybe to land less aggressively. Cheap bike? If so, upgrade!

Little bummed to find out why my rear keep feeling like it was getting low and "walking around". Seems like there's some play in the hub. Those hubs have one season and not a lot of riding no them :glare:

What kind of hub?

I use to be really into mountain biking. My aunt an uncle had a wheel building company, "Bomber Wheels". We assembled wheels for a bunch of shops and companies, with our biggest account being Santa Cruz Bikes. With that, I use to get mad discounts from them. We had some of the first Blurs made for us. My aunt with the first, and at the time only Purple Blur. I also had a Bullit for the Downhill runs. That thing was a tank, point and go! Unfortunately, there aren't many places to ride here, so over the last few years I've gotten rid of all my bikes. Everything is too steep, and you end up having to hikeabike everywhere. I wouldn't mind getting back into it, but its amazing how much the industry has changed in the last 5 years. I don't know half the shit they talk about anymore.

Don't know anymore, but when I was riding, the Deore's were pretty decent. I ran full deore on my GT i-drive for a long time. Truvanti and Raceface were my favorites though.

I had a buddy a few years ago, that was getting on his bike in his driveway. Running all deore. He swung his leg over and pushed down on the pedal. The crank arm broke in half, he fell forward, hitting the head stem, breaking 3 ribs and cut his leg open down to the bone on the broken crank. They tried to settle with him out of court and offered free parts for life. The last thing he wanted though was more Shimano parts.

That's nuts. I did something VAGUELY similar except nothing broke. I had left it in the lowest gear possible, never do that, jumped on and pumped hard (while going downhill), basically freewheeled the pedal, feel off and caught the 3rd gear ring in the back of my calf. Had 6 little dots scared down the back for a while and nearly a decade later they're just disappearing. There are two deores. Deore and Deore XT. The Deore XT stuff seems pretty nice, the Deore stuff seems pretty cheap and is probably the way they try to reach down to lower end markets with their name. But I'm no bike pro, really starting out compared to some people.
