vmzoller
Well the map pocket goes in place of it... I mean I put it in, in the dark, under the influence of much alcohol. So you took out the metal knee bolster thing and left it out to put the map pocket in right? I figured there was a different knee bolster to accomodate the map pocket, but of course didn't think to look at the time of pulling the map pocket from some C70. Dick Dastardly
You just removed it and left it out? Haha okay that's one way of doing it I guess Not particularly but I do love pocket, more pockets = more organization for me. What about less stuff? Less to "organize". vmzoller
Comon Mike, you should know how they need to have everything never needed in the car. Car emergency kit in the trunk. + Extra tissues, cloths, chap sticks, lighters, screw drivers, tire pressure gauge, flashlights, car chargers, window scraper, etc; which are all essential for a DD'd car and they need a nice tidy place to go! VMZoller's S70: her oversize purse on wheels. Seriously though, I carry most of he same things. My car came with the pocket but I had no idea what it was called. When I first started reading about map pockets I was like WTF is a map pocket, some elastic thing that hangs from the door panel.

Yeah pretty much! However it's all practical stuff that could legitimately come in handy. I just like to be prepared (:

vmzoller
are you a prepper? A prepper? As in a planner/organizer? Yes. But not OCD status, I just like having a schedule and knowing what my week looks like or that if I got in a car accident I have almost every possible thing I could need for survival or whatever (: I am one of those people that hates when plans change or when a wrench is thrown in the gears. Case in point, my Friday night got fucked up real quick and now I have a lot of re-evaluating to do.

Do you also carry cleaning supplies for when the multiple chap sticks melt?
matt b
Wow, I feel very under-prepared with my little LED flashlight and window scraper. Victoria, I get what you're saying though. A cousin works in construction and has two rubber maid tubs in the trunk: one for his clean stuff, one for his work stuff. The rest of the car is immaculate. Fudge_Brownie
Do you also carry cleaning supplies for when the multiple chap sticks melt?Burt's Bees. Hasn't melted on me yet...And I keep just about all the same shit she does in my car. I'm surprised what she carries around is considered odd. Granted, my car has a bit of a junk-draw status right now because I haven't cleaned it out in over a year. And I just throw everything over my shoulder and it disappears But that thing is a man purse on wheels.

Doesn't get hot enough here for them to melt (: Wow, I feel very under-prepared with my little LED flashlight and window scraper. Victoria, I get what you're saying though. Burn-E
I have a random question... To put a map pocket in my S70 do I need to grab an appropriate knee bolster airbag thing because it's a different shape to fit the map pocket? Since no one really answered your question properly let me add to the insight. The setup is different between 98s and 99-00 S/V70s. There's a metal knee bolster in 98's - as you discovered - and there's a foam bolster in 99-00's. Most who install the map pocket in 98's remove the bolster and do nothing to properly retrofit the map pocket in a 98. Read this thread to understand why there is a better approach. But ignore anything VolvoGuy50 writes - he's known in VS land as Faultywarrior (or Faulty for short) and is a certified idiot.
