Iv been using zipwhip and i hate it.. i dont like it needs to alwyas be on or else youl get texts from the last tie you logged off. and they dissapear before i get to read them.. i need something that doesnt suck. Get Some Posted April 17, 2013 Report Share Posted April 17, 2013 (edited) Pretty sure that can be done with Pidgin, a cross platform IM client that supports several major chat protocols. I've never tried it before, but I think you just add their phone number to your buddy list (in the format of 15085551234) and start txting. http://www.pidgin.im/ But I'm not sure you're going to find a free service that addresses your "always on" problem unless one of the big companies like Google or Facebook start providing this service. I should clarify I do not want it to be "always on" i want to be able to turn it on and off, it gets REAL annoying when they start popping up while your working, I know i can set it to private but still i just want to turn it off, less stuff runnin when i dont need it to be. Ill check out pidgin btw, thank you. It looks pretty simply just have to set it up n get the right plugins..
