Burn-E
oh and that chart? Yes, it's missing the deviancy of the toe tattoo though. Where's Justin when we need him?
Dick Dastardly
I'm going to sit down and talk with her father more about this and get some solid numbers and I'll most likely go to work for him. Changing jobs this much in a year just feels wrong to me thats all, it would be the 5th job I left in the last year. For 6 years before that i worked for the same company. I just want to be sure the next job is going to be the last job change for a long time. I passed up an apprenticeship 20 years ago with a friend who is a plumber. I regret it all the time. The funny thing is the guy who wound up apprenticing with him rents space in our shop for his own plumbing business now. Don't look at it as just a job for now. the numbers may not look good to start..it's what it will be in 5 or 10 years when you can go on your own
Stormtrooper1
oh and that chart? I don't really agree with the forearm color code. But everything else looks pretty accurate. Well I guess i'd switch the face to "cost taxes" as well...

Fudge_Brownie
I don't know if regular electrician stuff translates over to linesman jobs, but linesman seem to enjoy their career quite a bit. From the people I've talked to, solid pay plus big money on over time. The catch is that you work every shitty weather day. But they make enough that their eyes twinkle when they watch the gloom-and-doom weather reports.

I'm not going to get into my salary and benefits and what not, I will say though the linesmen don't make that much more and it's exponentially more dangerous, you are making yourself, basket and helo part of a circuit pushing thousands of amps
survolvo
Funny you guys bring up the linesmen. They are working right across the highway from my house right now. They flew a few guys in this morning and have been bringing in new power poles and equipment all morning. Pretty neat watching these skilled helo pilots maneuvering along the hillside between the tress and mountains.

survolvo
Just got a information dispatch. Fire Season has started in all of California. This is wild. We usually start fire season in June, never January. No rain all year, the last week its been 75-80 degrees on the coast, and very low RH%.
