It was designed for touch devices, with the idea that the desktop should have a consistent experience. It was a highly controversial move (and personally, a stupid one). I don't see that Google Maps was designed for touch, and I can't think of many other desktop applications where I've seen that happen. Was nice to see how simple taping into the wheel sensor for speedo is going to be. Also funny how the driver side wheel sensor wire goes into the fuse box then changes wire color and back out.
