I don't believe laser is used much around me, and from what I've heard it would be too late anyway. I just want a really accurate detector that doesn't false alarm every minute. But I don't think there's much for data on how likely that circumstance is, so unless you have a strong understanding of the science behind it, difficult to say. It does give you time to react if you're still accelerating, or by dropping your current speed in hopes they'll be a little more forgiving.Given the price range, that's BEL/Escort non-GPS. V1 or Escort with GPS in the low 4's. They're arguably the best in that category/range, so personally I'd say pick whatever you like. Historically, the V1 had better laser detection, while the Escort 8500 had a slight edge on radar but I'm not sure if that's still true, or if it really matters given the variables involved. They'll false a lot less than the cheap stuff, but they still false. I don't mind false alarms, but as you said the cheaper ones are 9 times out of 10 detecting nothing worth while. From what I've read, I'm leaning towards escort. Thanks.
