I don't care much for thr arrows. Once its going off, I will be on the lookout regardless. I don't believe laser is used much around me, and from what I've heard it would be too late anyway.

I just want a really accurate detector that doesn't false alarm every minute. I guess window mounting is the way to go. Not looking to spend more than 3 or 4.

You allegedly can detect scatter from laser in certain circumstances. But I don't think there's much for data on how likely that circumstance is, so unless you have a strong understanding of the science behind it, difficult to say. It does give you time to react if you're still accelerating, or by dropping your current speed in hopes they'll be a little more forgiving.

Given the price range, that's BEL/Escort non-GPS. V1 or Escort with GPS in the low 4's. They're arguably the best in that category/range, so personally I'd say pick whatever you like. Historically, the V1 had better laser detection, while the Escort 8500 had a slight edge on radar but I'm not sure if that's still true, or if it really matters given the variables involved. They'll false a lot less than the cheap stuff, but they still false. They all do, which is a primary reason the GPS lock-out feature is so popular.
