The PHP MySql extension libraries are not installed on this server! Not really to sure who to send this stuff to, so just posting here lol. @Che'_Moderator I emailed Chuck about this, he replied very quickly and said he'd look into it but I haven't seen anything change. gilber33
Are archived topics not searchable on VS? Now that I have the 850 and have been doing more 850 related google searches, Volvospeed rarely ever comes up. When I search on the site, the only hits are typically in the off-topic thread and is unrelated. For exampled, today I was trying to confirm the wires needed for splicing in a trailer harness. VS never came up on google searches. And when I search the forum, nothing comes up. But I'm pretty confident that someone has talked about a trailer harness on here before. Doesn't make sense when the forum is dying and google searches don't bring you here.

andyb5
Archived threads come up for me when I search the site like Greg described. Actually just looked thru a few from 2007/8 yesterday Never had good luck using the forum search feature and I’m not surprised that the site has slipped in terms of SEO/google results

I guess I was thinking more in terms of the 99.9% of people that don't do google searches that way and would thought that VS not coming up in searches isn't helping the forum stay alive. I also don't know how the results are generated on a search and why some sites come up and others don't. But it's weird. Volvospeed used to always come up first when I would search volvo related things. Now it doesn't at all.

gmsgltr
Anybody on here use a 'quick jack'? https://www.quickjack.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMImIXrtI7R8QIVDyitBh3kAwK9EAAYASAAEgIdk_D_BwE I have access to one, and kinda need it for some of the work I have planned but have a concern... The 850 lift points are super far apart, and they arent colinear. Saw this on MVS and the guy lifted his 855R by the pinch welds (Page 3 midway down). I havent looked too closely at this yet but have never lifted any of my P80s over the years from here. Thoughts? https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=83367&start=
gilber33
I was really considering one of those, but I'm not sure I'd ever feel confident under one. They look like they could tip really easily.
gmsgltr
i've thought the same, regarding tipping... and there are vids of people leaning in to them while raised and even the stress tests... I think once I see it in person, and add additional support under the car I will feel comfortable. Just not 100% sold on this 'use the pinch welds' approach on our cars - especially with the plastic rocker panel terminating there too and could easily get compromised when lifting. Probably better off asking this on the facebook page but always hesitant with that lol
caanglin
I've never personally used or owned one but, know people with them. They all seem to love them. I'm considering getting one. It seems to beat the hell out of lugging jacks and stands around a car.
gmsgltr
i dont have the height for a true lift... if i did i would have prioritized money towards that a long time ago. the quickjack, when on sale seems like a decent medium, its still pricey but seems a fuck ton safer and easier than jacks and stands or ramps etc. i want to do the entire rear end of the 850 and cant have it up in the air at the rear jack points (deltas) because i need to replace them haha - so the pinch weld idea suits me well. andyb5
A couple friends have quick jacks. I’ve never put my car up on them, but having worked on other cars on them, they’re plenty stable - more so than regular jackstands. If you’re buying a pair, the 12V model is apparently the best lift speed and you can power it from your car battery or even a jump pack if needed. They do come with riser blocks of different heights if you don’t want to lift your car directly with the jack “platform” on the pinch weld. gilber33
For what it's worth, I got these instead of the quick jack: You can see how much height is left on the jack stand. It says they have a full height of 24". They are extremely sturdy. I was under the car wrestling the exhaust and transmission and never felt the car wiggle. They're fantastic.
