andrew_the_fox
Hey guys, I just scored a cheap 19t, with a downpipe, and I'm planning on installing it over the summer, what else in terms of performance parts should go along with it? I want to basically know what should I do alongside the 19t to keep everything working well under the hood of my car?

Aequitas_Veritas
you are gonna need more rods.
ViperVette
... Just go with RICA, have them custom map it. Also, do a FMIC and/or Aquamist. Doubt your going to need to actually build anything. Maybe a valve job up top if you want to get some higher #s.
andrew_the_fox
is it used 19t?Yes, lightly used through a good friend.you are gonna need more rods.I hope not, I'm waiting a while to install so that it can be done right and hopefully avoid thatSo it looks like I should start witha tune than? Boost3237
Yes, lightly used through a good friend.I hope not, I'm waiting a while to install so that it can be done right and hopefully avoid thatSo it looks like I should start witha tune than?injectors and tuning. dont floor it unless your @ 4krpms or higher if you are boosting more than .3 bar do that and you should be mostly set. ozzimark
injectors and tuning. dont floor it unless your @ 4krpms or higher if you are boosting more than .3 bar do that and you should be mostly set.and why not? the stock configuration should be making quite a bit more boost than that at less RPM. the difference in exhaust restriction shouldn't be making THAT much more torque that you have to worry about bending rods
andrew_the_fox
I made a list of a whole bunch of things I was thinking about doing but I have no clue what order to do them in, and I doubt if I'll be able to afford every single one of these things so after going through my list I came up with the abridged version of what I hope to have complete by the end of Summer 2008.Under the Hood19tRICA TuneFMIC KitTransmission CoolerHeat Wrap PipingBigger Injectors (unsure what size)Fuel Pressure RegulatorExhaustS60R Exhaust ManifoldFull 3'' Exhaust CatlessSuspensionKoni Adjustable StrutsQBM HD EndlinksEventually5 Angle Valve JobUnorthodox Racing Underdrive PulleyAquamist SystemOil CoolerWiseco OS2 Forged Pistons RSI Forged Rods

ozzimark
so to put it simply, it's the surge you have to worry about and i wasn't saying floor it earlier, i was just questioning the 0.3 bar number you put up there. that's hardly any pressure :arob:
Aequitas_Veritas
ask mike how his 19t is working out for him. Oh yeah, he blew his motor in two weeks. Before you put it on, make sure you have an extra engine, or the money and time for a rebuild.

I waited almost a year too to install used turbo, after installation the seals start leaking in a week. if you are installing used 19t, then do it know, or get ready to rebuild it. andrew_the_fox
Well if I buy it and put it on immediately what can I do to be sure I don't boost f.uck myself like what happened to a few other forum members?I can't afford a tune or any of that right now, if I put it on and keep the boost low will I be alright? If so, what boost should I aim for?
