Geevs
Yea i know that, but there is no way i can get it started, how did you eventually get it in? I've tried for three hours with 2 c-clamps and lube, and it won't budge, i even sanded down the plastic to no availBoy, it's been a while since I wrote the article. I do remember trying a pair of C-clamps before the pipe flange kit and the C-clamps just did not apply pressure evenly hence the bushing kept slipping out of the mount. I also used lube but it made it too slippery. Tried WD-40 and it was just right. The trick is to tighten the bolt slowly at the same time centering the bushing. The first 1/4" is the trickiest part to center but once you get past 1/4" it gets a lot easier. Also the tip about looking for and starting on the flared side is a good one. Funny you used the wooden spacer cos I also used a pair of 1" oak boards as a press before I just gave up on it and went for the pipe flanges. Good idea on the 12" threaded rod with nuts at both ends. Gives a lot more room than the 5" bolt - the longest I could find.

It goes right over the outside lip of the longer flange on the driver's side and inside the outer part of the housing. Like I said in the write up, the only problem is that you need a little more room in order to pressing out the old bushing. After breaking off the first part of the bushing that came out, it gave enough room to keep going. I'm going out of town this morning until tomorrow evening so if you've got any questions, I'll respond when I get back home. Thanks,David
