Anyone have a recommendation for a good 2 stroke synthetic? I have a friend that rides GP125 and he says a bunch of the guys run ELF - any good?

Look at the post right above you.

I used Motul 710

You can get it off of

Cheaper off motorspot.

Awesome, thank you. I used to live right by them and I bought a 1500 dollar moped off of them during their dry time of the year. So they were thankful and gave me a great deal but now since I'm gone, cheaper is the way to go. :)

What about that castrol magnatec 10w-40 or Castrol GTX stuff ?? Apparantly its what volvo uses for oil changes. Any recommendations for a decent semi syn then?? Shell maybe??? I had mobile 1 once or twice in my car it seems to give more performance for some reason but stopped using it after i got a oil leak

What do you guys think of Penrite HPR??

Most of the 8100 Motul is a group IV. Mobile is actually a semi-syn. Did you try a heavier weight?

Looks like you were right bout castrol and sludge!!! :o lol lucky i change mine every 3 thousand kms, yeah i think i went from mobile 1 5w50 to something 10or15w 50 then i have pretty much been castrol magnatec for a while.

Thanks for the heads up. I thought my oil shouldnt be black after 3k kms. <_<

The Volvo of Orange County uses Castrol Oil and I think they have Mobil in the back (upon request). With mine, I used to feed my car Mobil 1 which is great, but lately - the past 2 oil changes I've been using Royal Purple....dunno what it is but I could tell the difference. It seems to run stronger. Maybe it's just my brain that's telling me that.

If its "black" than I dont think the brand of oil is your problem. I have read several articles about non-synthetic oil, and none of them I remember mentioning castrol sludge after use. If I wasnt skipping out of class for a few minutes I'd do some research, but I am so no research for me.

I ran castrol in my 85 245 right up until I sent her to the junk yard at 321K. I really did want to open the engine and see how she looked though.

My 850 has been on M1 since I got the new RMS.

My parents cars...

The 91 245 runs castrol gtx, sometime the High Mi stuff (150K?)

The 06 XC70 runs castrol gtx

The 91 325i runs castrol gtx as well. (220K)
