...is It Dead?

So Wednesday morning I go to start my car, and all it does is crank. All the lights go on, no check engine or errors, but it just won't turn over. I call Volvo on call and an hour later its at the dealership. 2 days later they call and say that they are giving me a loaner because it will take awhile. Why will it take awhile? After two days and a host of mechanics they cannot find the problem, and the computer isn't reading any error codes. They tell me that they are getting an s60 specialist in direct from Volvo to evaluate the situation (at least a week to get them in), and that they'll take it from there. What on earth does that mean? I've had the car for 6 months, it's a CPO 2004 S60 2.5T AWD with 32k on it. Previously over the summer I had it towed out of different places twice because the transmission failed; after the second time they determined it was the transmission computer and they replaced it. So I have no idea whats going on, and everyone I've talked to says that this problem, which they can't find, is unlike anything they've ever seen. Can anybody even imagine what is happening? AND WHAT DOES WE"LL TAKE IT FROM THERE MEAN? :(

I talked to them today, they said they got it to turn over. But now every time they drive it different series of error lights come on and the car doesn't perform correctly. They said they reprogrammed the ECU and did everything they could on their end. We'll have to see what this tech says.

Sounds like a network problem which can be difficult to trace as I'm sure dmelviØØ7 can agree with. When the system wants to get complicated this can happen. I'm sure Volvo doesn't want to just throw parts at the car as I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate that either. It takes more time to put all the old parts back after they figure it out if that were to happen. Are you just upset cause the car is down or because Volvo can't fix it on your time line? At least they are giving you a loaner and not keeping you from you daily life. I know how you feel, when your not in you car it's not the same, at least they are working on it though. Let us know what it turns out to be. Good Luck
