MikeH
A man is in hospital and may lose one of his eyes after being hit by a police Taser over the weekend in Toronto. The province's Special Investigations Unit has been called in to review the incident.SIU spokesman Frank Phillips said Toronto officers were called to the scene of a domestic dispute in the St. Clair and Dufferin area on Saturday morning.Phillips said a man who left the scene was confronted by police along St. Clair Avenue."The male was quite agitated [and] had been drinking. The officers on scene requested a sergeant attend the scene, and after further interaction with this gentleman, the sergeant deployed the Taser. And one of the probes struck the man in the eye.… we're treating this as a serious injury," said Phillips. The Taser's hook-like prongs embedded in the man's eye and then delivered a blast of electricity.

WhiteT5
I have to wonder about the operations of tasers. Are they set up so that the officer can control the shooting of the probe and the shock seperately or is it just a one-step sort of thing? I'm assuming the latter. That way as long as the flying fish hooks are in your target, you continue to have control. A single 9 volt battery is good for more shocks than will be required, even if you have to keep the guy down for a while. They make anti-energy weapon material these days but no one who's dumb enough to end up getting tased is wearing it. JHEIII874T5M
Per my understanding, the tazers emit a timed release (5s?). Each time the trigger is pulled, it's recorded. Most everyone I know will be immobilized with a signal release.

matt b
So, does he act like an ass on a daily basis, or just when the cameras are on?Only with cameras on from what I could tell, he is very low key and almost shy off-camera....
