J0E
Joe, I'm suprised you don't think much of the SLK 55.←Oh I absolutely love it, as any Mercedes. But I just don't feel the car will be too much fun for someone your age, nor is it too fitting for me as it is since I don't need a performance/luxury car. Since my needs for luxury are already satisfied, I'd give up a little for more performance. They are being delivered as we speak. I just need to go down and drive one! For a daily driver, it was between the SLK and the M3 for my recommendation. Again, the M3 would be a little more fun as it is more performance oriented, but the SLK would still make an amazing daily driver. If you feel the M3 is too common (which I fully understand...I see more M3s than all other iterations of the 3-Series combined), by all means don't hesitate to buy an SLK55.What do you guys think of the Cadillac CTS-V?←Overrated. Overhyped. Dissapointing. I don't know what it is, but I honestly have the ability to call out stuff cars before they are released. I did so with the RX-8. Did so with the S60R. Did so with the CTS-V. In all of these cases, a good portion of drivers have filed complaints and have gone through or are in the midst of class-action lawsuits (it's getting close for the R).The CTS-V has been proven to be no faster than an M3 still only running mid-13s, regardless of the press, manufacturer, and every other lemming believing it would blow it out of the water. It is heavily overrated as most owners are only putting down roughly 330 RWHP, about 40 HP shy of the Z06 with the "same" motor. The car also has major wheel-hop issues and the entire rear-end as well, along with major QC issues with the interior (not a shocker...its American). It was supposed to be a "4-door Z06," but it's nothing more than a 4-door GTO. It would have been an awesome car if properly executed, though! matt1122
Very nice car as well, and much faster than many people think.←Nowhere near as fast as the other cars listed.I agree with you on the CTS V though, after just 5 minutes of driving i was immediately incredibly disapointed and turned around to test drive an STS instead. sasso C70
Too bad the CTS was such a let down. I had no idea it didn't meet it's 400 Hp expectations, on the website they claim the car can do 0-60 in only 4.6 if that were true it would do the quarter in maybe 13.0 or less. I have to agree with you about the SLK being a touch less performance oriented and more suited for an older adult, plus, it only comes auto/tiptronic which is a real turn off to me. I'm still gonna test drive one when they arrive in late September before I make the final decision. I do feel at the age of 25 I should get something like the STI, M3 or maybe the SRT-10. I'd love to have the C6 or Z06 but feel it just wont work well as an all season vehicle.

Oh wait... they did do that, didn't they? But what about getting an SLK350 w/ MT and saving some money? ;)

Melted
If I were in your position I'd definantly want a skyline. You have two options to go that route, either you get a perfectly legal imported R32 GTR, or you do as you said and go the shady route with an R34.Either way is a hassle though, so I can understand you going with something else if you're not a big fan. ProjectT-5R
Vettes can be fun... sometimes, but I think you have better cars on your list. Vettes are cheap, and dont really drive that well comparied to the others. They do have power though. Just depends what you want. (I am speaking from experance with the vettes)The new legacys look nice too. The skyline seems like too much of a pain. I like the benz idea, it is a convertable but hardtop, which I think is better then a soft top for a year round car. Drive all of them and make a decision
The Stig
Actually, buy a 94 or 95 FD3S (RX-7 3rd Gen). That car is painfully beautiful. And *if* maintained well (this is the story with this car), it can be pretty reliable. And fast, of course. The R32 GTR would be a nice touch too. A good example in Japan runs about 1,000,000 Yen+ (Auction grade 4 or above), and add on top of that broker fees and the like and you're probably at around 20,000. Sourcing parts might be a bit interesting, but nothing Fedex can't cure.
sasso C70
ProjectT5R,Chevrolet claims they have fixed any bugs or imperfections from the C5, also, extremely improved upon the cheapo crappy GM int. Motor Trend cannot say enough about the new C6. Either way it doesn't matter because I've crossed this car off my list as it's not practical as an all season driver. Red850R,I have always liked the 3rd gen RX7, only thing is most RX7 I see are selling for top dollars, $22 000+ CDN. Melted,I am a big fan of the Skyline, I'm trying to have one priced out right now.
