loseR99
I had the chance to see some SRT-4's in action tonight. They were all modded, larger FMIC and exhaust from what I could see. None of them broke 13, they ranged from mid 13's to mid high 14's. I wasn't very impressed with them. I'd say a tuned C30 has the potential to chase down an SRT-4 and have a better trap speed, just unsure as to which would launch better.
volvo4lif3
I find it hard to believe that the SRT-4 runs 12.8 in the 1/4.you're right in your assumption....I was watching the Road and Track TV show, and in their quarter mile, they ran a 13.9 . I found it hard to believe, but thats what they got on a track. 12.8 is corvette territory. It sounds WAY too good to be true, and I have seen #'s otherwise. I'm right there with ya. magicaljake
The SRT4 is still a neonPeople who buy a c30 are not in the market for a neon. The C30 is intended for young people with some cash, like young urban professionals and not the Tuner market. They want a car that looks unique and it a little bit sporty. They don't care about 1/4 miles.he was talking about the new dodge caliber srt-
volvo4lif3
SRT-4 is 320lbs lighter and does 220whp stock. http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features...srt4/index.htmlWhy is the fact it has another cylinder and a bigger motor an arguing point? 2.4L I4 vs 2.5L I5. My bet's on the SRT-4.Edit, I misunderstood what you were arguing. Eh, even with identical mods on those blocks, I think 320lb weight difference means SRT-4 wins.that link is for the neon srt4, not the caliber. Caliber has huge rims, and is heavier than the neon. ;o
Spanky
Who cares how fast they are. 14.8 is fast enoughExactly!!! Save yourself $5 worth of upgrades and buy a motorcycle if you want your intestines peaking through your anus.I think the more important question is "which one will actually make it too 200k miles on one engine" ;)

Account_Deleted_T5M
Wow all of you guys are WAAAYY off..C6 Corvette run's high 10's on a tire from the factorySrt-4 (neon style) runs a 14.3 stock, and with just a FMIC, Exhaust, and tune can run low 13's. The new SRT-4 is NOT a neon, it is based off the caliber
Zaitz
For daily driving 18seconds is good. Are you racing your car everyday? That's your opinion that it is good enough. I don't race anybody on the street ever because it's stupid.

EdubT5m
i think we need to add about a second to some peoples time claims on here. the caliber srt4 is supposed to be a tick slower than the neon version, and the best i've seen out of a neon srt4 (modded) at the track is 13.9. NO WAY IN HELL will that caliber srt4 run remotely close to a 12.9. they're quick.... but not that quick
Che'_Moderator
Exactly!!! Save yourself $5 worth of upgrades and buy a motorcycle if you want your intestines peaking through your anus.I think the more important question is "which one will actually make it too 200k miles on one engine" The Volvo will be way way faster. Neon owners cannot afford my 10 dollar a gallon fuel pricing and we all know fuel is going to go up in price 20% this year despite being an election year. SRT-4 would panty rape the C30. Hell its faster than the S60R, what makes you think the C30 is going to hold its own?

rynodyno312
Wow all of you guys are WAAAYY off..C6 Corvette run's high 10's on a tire from the factoryUh no. A Base C6 will run mid 12's. The record for a C6 Z06 on stock tires as far as I know is 11.3 at 127mph, though I have heard of a 10.9 pass but have not seen the video. The upcoming 620hp ZR1 will probably squeak into the 10's off the showroom floor though.
