HtownTurboBrick
Ok so i eliminated my weird stutter and stall while driving 2 weeks ago, by swapping out another MAF. Worked like a charm, car has never done it again. However, i've been having starting issues about a week after i got the MAF taken care of. It's been dieing immediately after i start it. It'll rev to 1500-2k slow drop down to 1k hold for a few seconds drop to 800 and die. Or it'll drop sputter and kick itself back to life. Or it'll do all of the above in random order depending on how many times i bother to crank it. This has been happening on and off for a week. Yesterday i drove to work she started fine. Wanted to go to lunch and she wouldn't start. She'd crank, get 1 or 2 cylinders to fire and then die. Symptoms of a dead fuel pump to me. I came back later in the evening, cranked her up once and she started like nothing. Drove about 100 yards from my parking lot and she died. I played with her for 20 minutes got her back on and put her back in my parking spot. Question is, is there anyway to tell for sure its the pump. I know the X70's pumps are fairly quiet when they prime. I can't hear stuff when i prime the car. I had my brother listen while i tried it last night and he said he sorta heard something...whatever that means.Secondly, how many of u guys have had your pumps fail and when? The pump in my coral failed right around the same mileage, 90k. So is this common or no? I'm just gonna rip the Walboro 255lph pump out of my coral and swap anyways, just wondering if it might be something else i should look into and try to get her home instead of saving my parking space until saturday. 7 VII 7
If you use a Walboro 255lph pump in a S70... what is flow differently than an OEM one?I am looking to get a Walboro 255lph pump but will that make my MPG go down? I am running stock everything else so I just want to make sure that would be worth it.

I did gain 1-2mpg after i put it in, but i also did install a MSD 6A and SS coil at the same time. the coral went thru a ton of awkward periods and i couldn't begin to compare crap on it with other x70's. However i did find it was a cheaper option and easier for me to switch to a Walboro since i needed it immediately and since i was gonna up the power anyways, it wasn't gonna hurt to have. HtownTurboBrick
i know its a cake job, not the first time...just wondering how common failure of the pump is in the 90-100k range, or if its something i might be doing to cause premature failure. Fudge_Brownie
Theres no official stage 0 as far as I know, its only a recommendation list of common wear items collaborated by forum-goers. Maybe I haven't been reading correctly, but thats the first time I've heard the pump itself recommended as part of stage 0. I know jackshit about fuel pumps, but I was under the impression that they either pumped, or they didn't, and the car died and/or won't start and that will be the end. Yay, or nay? Yellow95
anyone have an answer to my question regarding the 255lph vs OEM fuel consumption?I will tell you if you explain to me how a fuel pump can affect fuel consumption. Your injectors, maf, O2's and ecu can effect fuel consumption but not the fuel pump.Gary
