Who Do You Think You're Going To Vote For.... And Why?

I understand what everyone is saying about RP not being able to win, still if everyone has that attitude then he wont. And if(or when) RP finally decides to drop out I will have a hard time giving my support to anyone else because their all washington raised politicians who know what to say once an election comes around and then they dont fulfill their promises. For me they all look fake next to RP.

Because the actual chance of RP to win the election is like Bubba getting smarter by each day. It just not gonna happens :P

RP: IMO= I agree with almost all of his ideals!! To the contrary.....his proposed ideas of solving the problems could be compared to a bunch of teenagers blazed out of their minds, discussing how they will become millionaires writing children's books.

I agree with you on that, but a good point is made, if all the folks who won't vote for Paul because he can't win, vote for him could he win?

Mitt is who I am voting for

I hate all you lefties and not supporting out troops..... OK do not support the reason why we are over there... but do not cut their funding to protect themselves (this applies to lefties that do not support our troops)

...country is going in the crapper we need change and a major one at that...

I agree, but I think it's mostly because of the citizens, not the leaders... there are too many idiots running around this country whining about the debt they got themselves into or how they can't get a good job because of (insert reason here). No personal responsibility and too much political correctness FTL...

But to answer the topic question:

[rant]

Purely on issues, there's not a candidate left in the race that is close to what I'm looking for in office. I believe I'm somewhere in the middle, maybe a bit on the conservative side, but it's surprising to me how many folks buy in to the idea that a candidate's campaign promises will mean anything at all once they're in office. They encounter a huge amount of resistance just trying to fill appointed positions, and then there are the major policies that have to go through the Congress and Senate, which get distilled to a lame compromise most of the time.

Historically, though, the Dems tend to raise taxes, and not just on the wealthy. The ironic part, to me, is that the lower and middle classes seem to really support the left. I don't get it. I consider myself middle-class, but I don't want any more taxes taken from me just so there can be even more social programs on my dime. Hell, I don't even want there to be any Social Security system. If you're too dumb to save money for retirement, then tough. If you can't afford the rising costs of health care, then how can you afford to make two car payments, eat fast food every day, and have two sat dishes hanging off the side of your mobile home?

[/rant]

... sorry, got carried away.

I was going to vote for Edwards or McCain. Looks like I may be shit out of luck though. Personally, I think those two would do whats best for our country and not what the rest of their party may strongly agree with. McCain is already being criticized by the Republican Party because he is not Republican enough for them.

Umm err...Mitt is a bit of a waffler on this issue (he abstained from most of the critical voting on this issue). If your really head strong on supporting the troops, McCain would be the vote getter.

I hate to say I'm still undecided, but none of the candidates Dem or Republican are clear stand-outs IMO. I am histofically a Republican due to the physical budget policies (but clearly Bush hasn't abided by historical budgetary policy). I'm still likely to go Republican because I don't think the economy can stand the democrats propensity for spending.

I must say though, Obama, although still wet behind the ears, is an incredibly good speaker and motivator. If he wins, it will be becuase of his charisma, not his experience.

Hillary is very experienced, but the Clinton's have so much history in the Capital, that I think it will be difficult for her to create the needed change. Mostly because she will be so weighed down by the pacts and political alliances that got her to the White House.

The best leaders are the people who do not volunteer nor particularly want to be a leader...my vote would be for Colon Powell.

Being from Arizona I've seen McCain in action, or a lack there of. My father in law is an Army Ranger who lost his leg in Vietnam, and gets shitty care from the local VA for his prosthetic. Upon numerous accounts of poor service he decided to write/call his local congressman, Mr. McCain, whom being a POW and vet himself, one would think he would have a sympathetic ear to the situation. An act of kindness, a letter of sincerity, or a phone call of hope was expected in return, instead crickets. Being contacted directly from McCain wasn't expected either, but from his office, surely.

McCain has been criticized by his own party for being too Moderate. Being registered as an independent myself, I do not favor one side or the other, but have definitive ideas, which I believe is not the case of McCain. Being too moderate, means not getting things done, or making a change. McCain's main goal is to take the least offensive ground possible, not to ruffle feathers, and make enemies along the way. He wants to continue what the previous administration has started, which has only put our country into debt, our economy into a downward spiral, and a foreign policy that is pissing off more and more countries, i.e. Iran and Russia (they're crazy too).

A look at the Democratic alternatives:

If Clinton wins, that means our country will have been run by 2 families for over 2 decades. Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton. This is not a healthy cycle. As I stated originally the best leaders are not the ones who volunteer for the position, and I think she is too emotionally involved in this race. She has cried twice so far, this is primarily due to having a vagina. I do not want a president whom makes rash decisions based on emotional factors (Bush number 2 getting revenge on Saddam for trying to kill Bush 1).

Last but not least, and the one whom I will actually cast my vote...Obama. Both democratic candidates having somewhat socialistic healthcare reform ideals, which is a detractor. However, I believe Obama will surround himself with intelligent people to aid him in making rational decisions. He is new enough to politics, that he actually cares, has his own ideas, and wants to implement them. I do not always agree with all of these ideals, but believe our country is in dire need of change. Obama being a minority by race, I believe will also aid in him being accepted and tolerated by other countries, which important for free trade, and the overall global image of America.

End rant...
