Some minor Area 55 updates..

First of all the SD-C,

Have been driving the car with the new engine for several thousand miles and it runs very well without any issues except for the stock T5 catback I'm using with this car which has developed a leak in the big muffler.

I also decided to give the Link Display a try,

The display connects to the standalone through a Canbus serial cable. Lot's of information can be read from this display using some 10 different screens. Because one screen shows gear selection I also configured this function in the standalone, a funny gadget..

Next the SDM,

Not much has been done with this car. I have driven the car a couple of times and made some minor adjustments. Currently the car is in storage at another location.

The SD2....

Lot's has happened in the last couple of weeks. First of all the car needed it's approval which unfortunately didn't happen on first attempt. New or more strict regulations do not allow the front wheels to touch the fenders. Just before the approval I had fitted some nice graphite 18" pegs with Bridgestone 225/40 tires but they touched at full lock. It was the first thing the inspector noticed when driving the car on the auto lift and his remarks were clear.. no approval that day. Further inspection went well until the rear axle was checked. Both deltalink alignment bushings developed cracks in their alloy housings.

Because the current approval was running out I only had 2 days to make changes for a second inspection so I decided to let the dealer change all the bushings on the rear axle. Changed the front tires and after that the car received the paperwork.

Next what happened was that my good friend Emiel came to pick up the car without any given reason... After a week I received it back in considerable better shape..

The whole story can be read here.

Now the downside.. I decided to sell this car. Engine and gearbox will be stripped from the car and a more or less stock 16T setup will be put back in. :(

Next the SD3,

The SD3 is no more. Car was build back to stock and traded for,

The SD4,

Currently completely stock except for a RICA tune. A nice car as it is, not very impressive from a power point of view but in my opinion the best roadholding a stock Volvo has ever had. Better that the last R's 4C setup also and a lot more feel in the steering and the car as a whole.

Suspension will be converted to "Coilover" in the coming month.

Then the "Area 55",

I acquired a second hand "shed" which will be rebuild behind my current workshop in the coming month. I hope it will be up before winter so I can park my cars in there.

The floor has been done already,

Construction work will start soon.

Oh, one more thing..

SD-5 soon..

For those who do not understand the SD numbering,

SD stands for "Swede Demon", the number behind is for the car and it must be a white car. If followed by a character the car has a color.

SD-1 = Volvo 850 T5 - sold

SD-2 = volvo S70 T5 - sold

SD-3 = Volvo C30 T5 - traded - also borderline white. Color was "Cosmic white" but not real white..

SD-4 = Volvo V70NN 2.5T - current DD

SD-5 = Volvo

SDM = Volvo 850 GLT/"ITB" - M stands for "Mjölnir" (Thor's hammer) which was the project name mainly because of the hammering sound throttle bodies will make.

SD-C = Volvo 850 GLT/Charger - C stands for Charger because a supercharger has been fitted.
