ErikS
Gas station owner decided to dump 6080 Gallons of diesel in the 95 octane storage tanks 10 minutes before I filled up the car... Wow, I would be pissed. In America, you would be getting a new ISF.
Piston Slapper
Let me introduce to you the new Lexus IS-F Diesel ... Gasstation owner decided to dump 6080 Gallons of diesel in the 95 octane storage tanks 10 minutes before I filled up the car... He buying you a new fuel system and engine? Johann
He buying you a new fuel system and engine? No need. Engine runs like a charm again. The gas tank was drained through the fuel system. Apparently the pump can be started from the diagnostics computer and the fuel feed line can be unbolted somewhere near the engine. Next everything was bolted together again and the tank was filled with the correct juice. After that it took some cranking to purge the last bit of diesel and the engine started which you can see in the video. I asked about gummed up plugs or fuel filter or anything else which can go wrong using diesel but the mechanic said no other harm was done. There was to much diesel in the tank for the engine to burn bad. It ran for about a mile and a half after which it started to misfire once or twice at very mild load. But this was right at the point where I arrived at my destination. When I wanted to start the car after about an hour and a half It simply didn't start anymore. Johann
Some progress made with the 242, Removed the 16V from the car, Made a different mockup to fabricate new engine mount. This because the 960 mounts can't be used. Did a lot of measuring... And fabricated new mounts, Some paint, And installed the engine in the car, Test fit of the Super 20G, Clearance... Next more measuring, This was before the engine install, Which gave me a rough indication of where the gearbox would sit. Tunnel needed some clearance to fit the box at all.. After installing the engine I added the gearbox which turned out to be a very tight fit and more clearance was needed. For this to happen I removed the dash from the car. Also a nice opportunity to paint the last bits of green btw. The gearbox shown in the pictures is a dummy box without internals. Last week I ordered the gearbox with the wanted specs. The clutch side will be BMW-Getrag spec and the drive shaft side I decided to use Ford spec because it better suits the Volvo driveshaft. Ordered ratio's were chosen with a shorter than current final drive in mind. Currently using a 3.73 axle. Want to change to 4.11 in the future.
lookforjoe
Nice Work, as always! What was wrong with the 16V (not that the T5 isn't an improvement)?
Johann
What was wrong with the 16V (not that the T5 isn't an improvement)? Nothing really wrong. It has an oil leak somewhere between head and block but that can be fixed. It just that I wanted a 5 cylinder all along..

Johann
Mine is so.. Guess I'm getting old.. Gave it a lot of thought. Like the IS-F a lot more than the RS. The RS is a lot of fun but still the Ford part shines through. Have driven only 22K km in little over 3 years. Often took the RS for a spin once a week to prevent it from developing spider webs, dust and rust. Added to that the wife has been talking about a convertible for years now. The C70 is a pretty loaded car in the Inscription version. The "leather" dash also gives a bit more premium feel to the interior compared to a C30 plus It drives very nice. Of course not nearly as fast compared to the RS and it comes with the dreaded GT but I must confess it isn't as bad as expected. Maybe add a Polestar tune later on. Oh.. There still is a C30 somewhere also..
Kevin.
I'd love to see some C30 action
