Johann
I want orange coolant! It's Texaco pre-mixed coolant. Trigger wire broken? Could be. Exchanged the voltage regulator yesterday but that didn't work..
Johann
Made the first miles today, Tomorrow morning the car has to go for inspection. Engine is running nice. Oil residue left in the heater core unfortunately smudged the new coolant reservoir..
laird
Nothing like a new clean coolant reservoir, it's nice when that's your biggest worry after a project like this. Goed gedaan.
Johann
Had an issue where the fan kept coming on after turning the ignition on and the fan kept running for about 5 minutes after turning the ignition off. Also the temp gauge went to the horizontal position to fast. At first I though it had something to do with the low battery voltage after the alternator woes but yesterday evening the battery was pretty much charged and the issues remained. Replaced the temperature sender this morning and the fan kept off at start and shut down with the engine like it should. The temp gauge is now moving with the engine warm up. Drove near 50 km so far.
Zappo
I had that same issue last year.
Johann
Back to black.. Exchanged the hood today with one of a DOP 850 being readied for the wreck yard. The change took ten minutes but we didn't exchange the grill. The old grill had a newer blue Volvo logo, this one an original old skool black one. The existing hood was pushed back at the grill area and had two cracks in the paint where the metal had folded. Installed a different ECU casing lid plus vent pipe. old ones were cracked. Exchanged the FPR vacuum line. old one has a small leak. Last week we went to the Guardians of the Galaxy premier with the whole family.. Wife wasn't that amused because she had to sit in the back. My oldest son, who just started his driving lessons, wanted to sit in the front of "His future car" .. 330 km , ~5200 RPM max, ~175 km/h Vmax and ~8 psi Bmax so far. Suspension has it's mileage but not running real bad. Brakes need attention.
laird
My wife gives great driving instructions from the backseat.
Johann
After 438 km the engine developed an oil leak so I thought. I suspected a leak in the oil thermostat housing but it turned out to be an oil cooler line. Ordered new lines, And while fixing the issue I also replaced the front bumper and the license plates. Front plate was damaged and the rear plate holder had a very ugly parking radar build in.. License plates themselves are registered in the Netherlands to prevent duplication. We are allowed to use two kinds of plates, the normal embossed version, and a so called luxury version with plastic characters, Registration can be seen in de lower left corner. My son likes the luxury plates so I ordered that type. Also cleaned the front brakes and repaired the tail panel. No more rattles coming from the rear.
lookforjoe
Nice Work! I enjoyed Guardians Of The Galaxy - I like the old sound track. "License plates themselves are registered in the Netherlands to prevent duplication" what does that mean??? People will make illegal copies of your plate? TIZIO AKA 1 HND MEC
...... to prevent duplication" what does that mean??? People will make illegal copies of your plate? That happens a lot in Europe!!! I receive home a speeding ticket from my plates in Italy while I was in Germany, EZ-Pass save my license/car/$1000 fine!!! "License plates themselves are registered in the Netherlands to prevent duplication" what does that mean??? People will make illegal copies of your plate? Plates get stolen and used on other cars to avoid tax and speeding tickets. When ordering new plates the old ones need to be returned. If no plates are returned the new plates will receive a clearly visible duplication code. The highest number reached in the Netherlands so far is 7 …. Burn-E
What does a police officer do about that? Trying to understand to whom the number is communicating the duplication.
Johann
What does a police officer do about that? Trying to understand to whom the number is communicating the duplication. It's somewhat easier to see if a car is using stolen plates. In case of a speeding ticket the official owner of the plates will receive the ticket. In the past it could be a huge hassle to prove the owner wasn't at the specified location at the specified time. Now justice can see if plates don't carry their correct duplication code which could already save half the hassle.
lookforjoe
Hmm. We have a registration sticker attached to the windshield. The plate info & vehicle info is all on that sticker. If someone stole our plates, it would be obvious to the courts that the owner was not the speeder, etc., since the plates wouldn't match the vehicle. You don't have something similar?
