Received the correct oil trap. Now only a stud was in the way...

And blue bling,

WOW VVT covers  I can haz?

Also, did you get the PCV box to mount and fit finally? Why such a hard time? Figured you could just get the correct oil trap for the long block and it would fit...

The box which goes with the engine is to tall to fit behind an older style intake. This engine is being prepped to fit a '94 850 T5 with M4.3 without to many engine bay modifications.

After helping my friend installing the fixed cams in his B5244T5 engine and after he gout the engine up and running it turned out the swap is promising. Since I had a same set of cams shelved I decided to install them in my engine,

Forgot to ask - can you provide the part numbers off the ends of the cams? That will make it easier to determine if they can be readily sourced in the US, vs. using engine designations. I don't need them, but I'm sure there are plenty others who would be interested.

A fun yesterday.

A couple of weeks ago I received a message from Mesoam. He and his wife were visiting Europe and also wanted to visit the Nurburgring. We arranged a meeting at the Ring. I asked Emiel to accompany me.

The NS site showed the Friday the 17th being open all day so we decided to go meet that day around noon.

Emiel en I left my place little past 10 AM. Car of choice was the wife's C70 .. I haven't driven that car very much plus it's an AT. No experience with AT's at the Ring.

Traffic wasn't that bad still it took nearly 3 hours to reach the Ring. Specially the last part went slow..

We arrived almost an hour overdue.

To our dismay we discovered that the track was closed for a track day.. No Mesoam's to be found either. Tourist drives were starting at 17:30 till 19:00 .. .

An email later we were on our way to the Dorint hotel at the F1 race track. The Meseom's, I'll keep it with forum names, were having lunch at the hotel bar.

Emiel and I joined for lunch and we went visiting the Nurburgring museum after that.

At the museum entrance there was a nice surprise,

There were some nice cars to be seen,

and some fun attractions,

There also was a 4D movie experience.. A movie about the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring. One of us asked the question what the 4th D was..

It was suggested that it was probably a bucket of water being poured over the audience and a blower to mimic wind.

Turned out the remark wasn't far off... I think a plant sprayer was used instead of a bucket..

Then there was a lot of talk about Currywurst. Specially from Emiel. To get closer to the Currywurst we had to drive to the Village of Adenau. In Adenau there's an exit from the Nordschleife called Breitscheid and there is a restaurant right next to it.

We managed to talk the Mesoam's in to an all out Currywurst experience,

IMG_5539.jpg

In return they gave us an all out impression they liked it.. :P;)

In the mean time we enjoyed the various special and weird cars passing on the main street. As it appeared there was also a Subaru Legacy meeting going. Probably from the UK. They flooded the place. Plenty of other nice cars to see. GT-R, Mclaren, Porsche, M's etc. etc.

After Currywurst we went back to the tourist drive entrance because tourist drives would start at 17:30.

Again there were plenty of nice cars to see. For me the new 991 GT3 was the best of day. What a beautiful car. Forgot to take a picture though..

There was another Porsche which had a nice livery,

Although the Mesoam's already experienced the Ring with their Race-rentals Emiel and I wanted to take them for a lap in the C70. Just a recognisance lap. Unfortunately Mrs. Mesoam was caught up in a phone conversation and urged we should go the three of us. We folded Mesoam in the back of the C70 and off we went.

I was a bit rusty and also nervous because I didn't know the car. Just after the bridge I decided to go use the manual or GT mode of the gearbox because AT mode simply sucks. AT mode has a tendency to shift to lower gears to quick. Using GT mode I was a bit afraid I might try to use a clutch pedal which could lead to emergency stops but the experience with the IS-F's manual mode luckily kept me from doing so. The car didn't do that bad. The Polestar tune was a very welcome add on, or needed welcome given the total weight of the car. The front tires were smearing a bit but it didn't spoil the fun. There were some wet spots on the track. Kept a moderate pace and tried to drive the proper lines which I think went reasonably well. There were two yellow flag situations during the lap. One was a 3 car crash, the other a Race-rental trying to remove a barrier head on. Didn't succeed so help was needed.. There was a "moment" halfway were I wanted to let a faster car go by but saw a bit to late that there was a sand covered oil spillage in front of me leaving very little room for the car passing.. My bat but no horn or hands or fingers so I guess it was forgiven.

Not a bad lap. I hope it could give Mesoam a bit of an idea how we Euro's try to entertain ourselves.

Back at the parking it was announced that the track was closed which was expected given the extend of the two crashed. Unfortunately it was announced shortly after that the track would remain closed for the day.

So.. Been there, done that, time to get the T-Shirt,

After that it was time to part. It was a very nice day. Very nice meeting the Mesoam's. !
