Johann
Update,The engine's rear crank seal blew out last Saturday morning. Engine didn't like it's last 135 mph drive I guess. It's a bit of a bummer that this happened instead of some kind of catastrophic rod failure or anything along that line.. It simply started spilling oil. Instead of placing a new seal I decided to pull the engine and later that evening most was already removed from the engine. Sunday morning the steering pump was all that was left before the engine could be lifted from the car.Next to go in is the rebuild T5 block together with a rebuild/adapted S40 M56 gearbox. To bad SPEC is letting me down, new clutch can only be shipped in two weeks.. Also a Quaife diff is on it's way.At first I was thinking about dumping the SC in favor of a GT30 setup but someone convinced me not to.. For the time being the SC will stay on. I hope I gain some HP by adding an IC, opening up the exhaust and a few other mods. The old engine was running bone stock including it's NA exhaust setup. SD-C will be out of commission until at least early August.
NGB
Bummer, but it sounds like you have some exciting things planned for the car! Johann, when can I come visit?
matt b
Shame, but you have a lot to look forward to with it.Does NL have emissions requirements ? Can you remove the catalytic converter and run a larger exhaust ?

Can you remove the catalytic converter and run a larger exhaust ?Officially the car needs a converter. Exhaust is a bit of a grey area. As long as the noise level is OK there isn't much to worry but when it does make to much noise the exhaust will be checked for an E code and if not present the papers of the car can be confiscated .Car past emissions with the SC btw and all was 100% OK. matt b
I wasn't old enough to drive when I lived in Groningen, so this is all new to me.
Johann
Converted the M56H S/V40 gearbox to external clutch cylinder,For the conversion the big shift lever on top of the box needs to be changed to 850 style and there is a piece of metal on top of the casting which needs to be removed to make room for the shift cable,All other is identical to the 850 gearboxes. Johann
Spec stage 3+ and a Quaife LSD added,The S40 gearbox as it is didn't work out. The cast is missing some mounting holes for the rear gearbox/engine mount. I decided to transfer the internals of the gearbox to the original GLT gearbox housing. Engine is back in the car now.
