that roll cage is a death trap /turbobricks

No it is cool. :)

Think you read my post about the construction.

Drove the car home without brakes because they weren't mounted on the car. Right caliper was mounted but no pads in it..

The other caliper and new brake pads and all the clips and retainers were in the car. Calipers already had new seals. 142 brakes are puzzling with the double lines.

Fitted an 18"x8 ET40 OZ wheel with 225/40-18 tire because I was so curious,

For the Blitz, Zeitronix ZT3 came in yesterday so now the wideband can be installed permanently. Installed the hood release cable. Needed rerouting because it was situated where the clutch pedal is placed now.

  • 2 weeks later...

Dash installed. Speed RPM and fuel level working. Temp and Boost still needs to be done.

Needed to change the engine cover inside the cabin. The floor was already changed to fit the V8 but the cover was still OEM with two plates fitted to the bottom to match the floor. This construction was to small for the T5 with the turbo pipe going over the engine.

Since the cover is made out of polyester/glasfiber I decided to cut the cover in half and try to bake something together using polyester...

Never worked with this stuff before. Used an aluminum plate as a mould and started the painstaking slow process..

After more than a day it came out like this,

4 layers all together and plenty of resin.. At least the cover was square which was my main concern.

Next, as seen in the picture, room was needed for the throttle pedal. Used tape to fabricate a support for the fiber. Came out a tad wobbly but for now good enough. Thinking about glueing a footrest plate on there.

Painted the whole thing and test fitted the cover and it matched the bolt holes and floor structure perfectly. Needs some further attention but fr now good enough.

Of course a test fit needed a test drive...

First time out. Only drive first two gears and reverse. Engine ran well, bit low idle RPM after warming up. Clutch worked but very little stroke. Needs some attention.

For the 142 I received some lowering springs,

And sanded and painted the roll cage,

I don't know. Lowering is 40 mm which was the lowest I could find.

Brand is Lesjöfors.

They a standard 5.5" spring, so you check with race suppliers you can find 8" tall by 5.5" diameter and it will slam the car.

Maybe but 5.5 isn't all that common over here. Added to that the rear springs come with it and they use a smaller shaped coil on top and bottom.

All is new to me. Maybe I don't even like the 142.. :D

Ha

:D

Sorry about that. A friend made the clip using his phone which makes mp4 clips. I couldn't edit the clip because the computer I was using only has iMovie '08 which can't edit mp4.

Rotated version plus some more footage,
