Texas - Austin - Roger Beasley Volvo

My first experience with these folks was when I brought my S80 (I have 60K on a 2003 2.9) in for repair of the suspension. I made an appointment and brought my car in on a Monday (no loaners available) - they diagnosed the problem as being the tie rod ends also replaced the rear sway bar under the Volvo CPO warranty (this work was fine & they aligned the car too).

The also advised me that I needed a new muffler it would be $250 they would have to order the part and have it done the next day. They actually get the part Wed and tell me its the wrong part the new part will be in Thursday, but its only $216. I get a loaner car finally on Thursday as it looks like they will not get to my car.

On Friday morning they tell me that the muffler actually comes in 2 parts and it will be $700 installed. I ask them what is actually wrong with my muffler and they tell me the thing that attaches the muffler to the car is broken therefore I need a new muffler because that's how it comes from Volvo.

I went to Leonards Garage and paid $48 for a new muffler hanger (parts and labor) and they did the job in less than an hour. BTW - Roger Beasley charged me $48.50 to put my muffler back on after I refused the repair when i was informed it would cost $484 more than I was quoted.

Presently I have been waiting for 2 days and counting to get these guys to work on my car. I now have 63K on my car and the chip sensor in the ignition assembly is out (my key will not turn in the ignition). There's maybe 15 minutes of labor needed to fix this imo, but they have not looked at my car yet. Regardless, I am without a loaner again and the days in the shop with no loaner / miles on the road equation is starting to bite.

I had 3 BMW's before my Volvo and was spoiled by always having a loaner and always having my car worked on the day I brought it in.

Economics & common sense judgments aside, the fact that they cannot order the correct part for a car in the better part of a week is serious a point of concern - will they install the right part and how long will I be without my car . I will only take my car there if its for work covered under the Volvo warranty, anything outside that scope will be done by a shop I can trust.
