ROB @ VMS
Hey everyone, im glad to say that this weekend we started to build my 99 C70 5sp. Most of you guys know about the vms motor program and after all the work its ready I hope this car will become the fastest C70 in the world ( besides the Vms Drag C70).Modification as listedThe motor comes from my 01 C70Ross pistons 8.2:1 C/RRoss RingsVms 4340 H beam rodsClevite rod bearings BearingsCustom Grind crankBlock bord .020 OverVms Stage 3 head (15% flow gains)Custom ManifoldGT3071R Tial 38/40mm External gateFull 3" V band ExhuastRC 550cc injectorsCustom -8AN Fuel linesAeroquip Fittings255lph pumpCustom IntercoolerCustom 2.5 aluminum Intercooler pipeHoses From Turbo hoses All Hoses use T bolt clampsCustom 3" intakeHks BovSpec stage 3 type F clutchNx Wet Nitrous systemMSD Dis-2 and Dis-4 Due to the 5 coils on our Dis systemsWillwood 14" Front Big brake KitKw CoiloversIpd swaysCenterline 18"rpm wheelsVolk TE37 on order in 18x8.5 in front 9.0 in the rearDefi BF Boost and EGTDefi Controller 2Custom Upsolute Chip TuningTheres just the main stuff but i hope to really see what we can make out of these blocks. The torque is going to be massive so we have to figure how to control the power after we make it. I will update this thread daily with pics and progress info. We hope the have the car down in Atlanta for Nopi this year. If this one doesnt make it i will bring the auto down. I figure a year to get it all sorted out.
lax01
why are you sticking to chip-tuning when you could get so many gains from standalone management?
JHEIII874T5M
why are you sticking to chip-tuning when you could get so many gains from standalone management?←if you are custom tuning an ecu for your car............ compare that to standaloneRob... congratz on piecing a car like that together
lax01
its still meter-based....i mean, you still have to run the MAF...just weird that they are throwing so much money into the car and then just using the basic ECU with a remap...but I guess they know what they are doing
Guest DougK
why are you sticking to chip-tuning when you could get so many gains from standalone management?←Simply not true. If Rob has complete control over timing and fuel maps of the OEM chip, then do it.
Johann
its still meter-based....i mean, you still have to run the MAF...This could become a bottleneck with Rob's application but I think he was running the larger "R" MAF already. 80 mm should be sufficient for 500 HP I think.just weird that they are throwing so much money into the car and then just using the basic ECU with a remap...but I guess they know what they are doing←I think all in all, when having full access to the ECU, the Bosch ME 7 is evenly or more capable than a larger part of the aftermarket ECU's.I had my S60 dyno tuned several times using an emulator connected to the Bosch ECU. This way the whole system was real time programmable. After finishing the dyno tuning the program can be converted and burned to a chip which goes on the same socket used for the emulator connection. In the end it only takes some extra time for the chip to be connected but on the other hand there is no need to rewire a complete engine bay. Also all the CANBUS communication will remain. The only plus side of a standalone is the open programming environment.
ROB @ VMS
Im not too worried about the MAF, if it does become a restriction i will remove it. Kai had a nice c70. 380whp or so i beleive, not bad with the setup. Thanks guys for the support. As far as ecu tuning i think most of you guys dont understand Me7. Alot reasons that people go to full standalone systems is because there stock ecu cannot be reprogramed or is not flexible enough. Me7 can be fully programable for Fuel,Timing,Boost,Load, ect. The only thing about me7 that i am concerned about is Boost control over 1.5 Bar. I do plan on using a electronic controll with me7. I think i can make it work with the boost curve much like the boost curve programmed in me7. Doug a year?? More like a couple months before i really push the motor past 500whp. Once i can tune in the GT3071R that should make 425whp at 1.4-1.6Bar . After i get the fuel right i can then choose the next step. I planned on using nitrous but thats is not until we can get the MSD igniton in and working. Im trying not to throw everything in at once. But yeah my whole goal all along has been to do something like as few have done.
Guest DougK
But how LONG have you already been working on it? Trust me... theres more than just dropping the motor in it till its done. Your going to hit snags, bugs, issues, changes ect Dont be bummed out by it, it happens.A year from whenever you started*
ROB @ VMS
Johann i beleive we can use the sensor out of the MAF and use it in a new housing. They are just very sensitive and dont like any sort of vibrations. I tried running the R Maf and the car didnt like it at all, it wouldnt even start up and idle. I dunno if thats from it laying around so long out of its box(little newphew found it and figure it was his little play toy . Anyways im going to buy another one and see if it works if not im sure there is a way to calibrate it.
Tripp Mcnealy
Definetly keep us informed, also having a ME7, i'd like to know how much gains you find in it..i.e." Me7 can be fully programable for Fuel,Timing,Boost,Load, ect."Ive heard you can create some crazy numbers...
