Nebor
Plus you still need to get the thing tuned to be truely impressive ←I thought VMS engines didn't require tuning? :P
ROB @ VMS
Tuning ahh... Yep i plan on using the Motec M600 Standalone system to control everything as soon as i get everything else that i need to do the Ecu swap. I am going to have to really look at some wiring diagrams and find things that i will need to rewire. I will switch over to a 98 C70 ignition switch and wire that up and try and do away with the electronic throttle. If i retain the ETS at least i have control of it. But i wana step away from Drivebywire asap. Right now i am at the point where i am going to dyno and tune the air/fuel and start getting things to where i know what needs to be done. Im still going to tinker with me7 or so since i still believe i can make some darn good power while still using it.
Guest DougK
Hey Rob, tell us all what it is that makes MOTEC stand out to you so much? What do you like so much about it? Not trying to be insulting, just would like to know.
ROB @ VMS
Well first of all the system will work for 5cly. Thats not the sole reason but that is good that it does. From what i have been doing research on and looking around this system seems to be what i am looking for. First of all it can control drive-by-wire and well as contol VVT. Future plans may bring me to buy a standard throttle body and go to the trad throttle system. Also The M600 is CAN capable which means it can send data over a CAN bus to ADL Dash or other CAN enabled devices. Also the Processing is very fast. Another thing i like with the motec system is it constantly monitors your sensors and will alarm you if they are going out of range. Also there are 4 Digital inputs. One of those i can use to control nitrous ect ect. Also the motec system can use 2 high speed wideband 02 to monitor air/fuel. I just think overall its a badarss system. Also the datalogging software is awsome and honestly you can spend as much as ur wallet is deep on goodies for these systems.
Guest DougK
Keep going Rob, (no offense) but theres nothing there besides the fancy display that NUMEROUS other EMS can't do either. I just dont want to see you plunk down cash on something just because its MOTEC and its pricey.
ROB @ VMS
I dont have to keep going, i wana use the motec system if all else fails and thats the way it is going to be.
ROB @ VMS
Doug if u dont like motec then who do u suggest. And as far as prices most ecus that can compare with the Motec systems are around the same price i would think. The haltech ect ect. Looking at the haltech system it doesnt do 5cly at least from what i am reading. I have not called them yet. there is a company in the Uk called GEMS that do standalone ecus as well as some others. I still have to gather more info to make a good decision but motec is a option that i can take if i can bring myself to spend the money on it if all other options are exhuasted. ROB @ VMS
AT the moment I am going to test the Split second Voltage Clamps on my map sensor and try to get a EBC to function correctly. I am not giving up on me7 yet because i havent had a change to try the things i want to but i will have a bit of time to play with it before i head to Tahoe next week to play.
