lookforjoe
Hey Congrats on getting it up and running! The M66 in my S40 runs about 3000 rpm at 80 mph in 6th gear so 2600 at 70 seems about right. Which shifter did you use? One from an R or from an S40? (Not a big fan of the moonball from the R personally).Did you change out the angle gear oil while you were under there and had things taken apart?I used the shifter from an '00. I need to modify or replace the knob. Didn't want the spaceball, even if it could have been made to fit the console. The angle gear was only installed a few of months ago - so the fluid is fresh - I did reseal it this time, the inner seal was seeping, the outers where dry, but I don't want to pull it again anytime soon.I'll get pics up later today. NEU
No Joes this time - I just didn't have enough time to play around on this job. Oh Boo.... Well maybe pictures without would be OK...
lookforjoe
Here's some pics of the job... out with the old... in with the new... Pedals & master modified shifter cable bracket forks... ball studs removed & replaced with bolts - I'll be using a cut down shouldered bolt for the final setup - just to make sure the inner wall isn't chewed up by the threads over time... Trans & clutch slave/throwout bearing ready to go in... Angle drive resealed... S60R dual mass flywheel, new Pressure plate & disc... new rear main seal (only 30K on the original clutch that came with the flywheel, but the previous owner clearly had poor clutch control skills...) lookforjoe
Forgot to add the shift knob mod - I checked @ the dealer, and new knobs for the '00 in wood or leather run 87 bucks - the '04 versions run 120... So, I covered the existing with some red leather... heated, stretched & bonded in place... trimmed excess & tucked back into body . all set to go... back in the car... color cast is off due to flash.... Big Will
All I can say is that I'm impressed. I can't wait to see the in person. You should come up to the Rein's Deli meet on the 22nd and/or the meet down on Long Island on the 15th (The food will probably be better at Rein's )
