while we are defending bush why don't we defend the profit margin of exxon mobil at over 40 billion dollars.

OK.

They are a business and they are good at what they do. Their profits come from technology, research, and development. Not when you put the nozzle in your Volvo.

President Bush does not control the price of oil. OPEC does.

quote some website-

"Existing global trading patterns primarily reflect the result of buyers and sellers responding to

market forces to get each type of crude oil from where it is

produced to where it is most valued, accounting for the cost

of transportation. That is, trade flows at any point in time are

largely a result of the relative advantages in transportation

costs and buyers’ preferences for different qualities of crude

oils.

However, because buyers and sellers can and do substitute

one type of oil for another, specific trading patterns are not

crucial to evaluating supply and demand or pricing. For

example, if the supply of crude oil from a source were cut

off – regardless of whether that oil flowed to the United

States – competition from buyers for the world’s remaining

supplies would drive up all oil prices. Alternatively, if a

country decided to cut off shipments of oil to the United

States but maintained its production, there would be relatively

little long-term impact on price. (This is, of course, holding

aside any price changes due to an increase in geopolitical risk

or smaller influences, such as shifting transportation and

refining patterns.)"

even though i hate bush he cant possibly be responsible for prices since he doesnt influence the market for oil

and its actually good that oil companies profit or any company for that matter. it results in them keeping people employed and that reduces unemployment and when that number shrinks ppl stop their bit*hing and a low unemployment rate adds fuel to a consumer's confidence along with several other things.

so i dont have to copy and paste it all, this is the website i just finished reading and it provides a good overall explination as to why oil and gas prices are the way they are its a good read if you dont know the mechanics of it.

why dont you get upset at how high our corp tax is, duhh jobs are gonna go outside the us if WE make it cheaper to do so via corp. tax which is for fact the 2nd highest in the world why not lower that a bit and use what would have been taxed to bolster local cities/ communities? dont be angry at someone for prospering and enabling ppl to put food on their tables for thier families

Before I get upset at a someone posting who gets their information off of msn or yahoo, get a bike and ride it instead of driving your car, or STFU.

Gas prices are no where near as high as they need to be.

i am not complaining about high taxes because they should be higher. of course jobs are going to leave when sweatshops can do the same labor for cheap. and i don't think 40 billion dollars is prospering. those execs are lighting their cigars with hundred dollar bills. i think they make a little more than enough to put food on their table. i work part-time and i'm a student and i make enough to put food on my table and pay for all the gas i need even at 4 bucks a gallon. so let's not kid ourselves.

if i recall, sweden has pretty high taxes and their system works pretty well. 5 weeks vacation per year too.
