JHEIII874T5M
feels like we all complain just because it's not 1 dollar a gallon anymore. In other places, they pay DOUBLE what we pay. If it effects you too much, stop driving. I feel there is nothing we can do about it, i'lll follow where ever the market takes it.Agreed about other places... travel outside of the country and you see rather "high" gas prices. Even in Peru, 3rd world country, people are paying 3 times as much with no problem. Tons of very, very affordable public transportation, very few people drive. I'd prefer that any day of the week. Before I get upset at a someone posting who gets their information off of msn or yahoo, get a bike and ride it instead of driving your car, or STFU. Gas prices are no where near as high as they need to be.While I agree "msn or yahoo" may not be the most "accurate" news sources, one must be understanding of the sources people choose to use. News sources will always be biased.
Boost3237
i am not complaining about high taxes because they should be higher. of course jobs are going to leave when sweatshops can do the same labor for cheap. and i don't think 40 billion dollars is prospering. those execs are lighting their cigars with hundred dollar bills. i think they make a little more than enough to put food on their table. i work part-time and i'm a student and i make enough to put food on my table and pay for all the gas i need even at 4 bucks a gallon. so let's not kid ourselves.if i recall, sweden has pretty high taxes and their system works pretty well. 5 weeks vacation per year too.your missing the point. besides why do you care how much they make, if they made 30% less this yr then last yr whould that give you more money? no. and corporate taxes should be lower ... could be lower.... so if you should be upset at money wasted it should be at our corporate taxes. rather then bantering on about how rich oil companies are. if that were the case you'd have to be upset at how much pro altheletes make. Kibim
i've been paying $4+ for a while! It's going up even higher than that now.
Nader
Yea it only costs initially $20 more to fill up, but if its more like $40 a week ,cause you drive more, extra and your self employed and you only get tax compenstaion for .485 cents a mile and it costs you more like .60cents a mile you are getting hosed on all sides. I get taxed for my income, im paying more for gas, and im able to deduct less and less of what I pay out of pocket for business purposes. So it is a big deal, especially when tax code doesnt keep up with the current situation If you keep track of all your expenses you can put the exact amount it cost for gas, oil, maintenance etc.. The .485 is only a standard, if you have receipts definitely get whats yours.

News sources will always be biased. As I am even more biased on the subject, as my "source" is as accurate as they come. Non-renewable resources will always cost more overtime. It all boils down to consumer behavior.
theForgottenone
That extra $20 I can use for my lunch money buying burrito.I remember back in the days (15yrs ago) where one gallon of unleaded was $.99 I drive like an old man now. Try not to hit above zero psi mark.
7 VII 7
while we are defending bush why don't we defend the profit margin of exxon mobil at over 40 billion dollars. My friend works for Exxon/Mobil and is high up there... but she will tell you that they are not raising the gas prices and if they make a good penny off of it then... they doso did Texaco, Shell and others :)

Guest 850T-5
Before I get upset at a someone posting who gets their information off of msn or yahoo, get a bike and ride it instead of driving your car, or S T FU Gas prices are no where near as high as they need to be.Are you some kind of neocon? Are "you" riding your bike, walking and taking public transporation, how about "you" do that?I know it is sort of extreme and a little off subject but kind of reminds me about how so many like to point fingers and cheerlead this war. Most of them who do haven't had to go to war and fight. They love tell everyone else to S T FU and what they should do but then they're not doing it and will probably never have to themselves. The internet nowadays has become more trusthworthy than the media, especially for truth about what is going on today in our corrupt, special interest controlled Government. Back to Oil Prices, these are known facts so let's get real and not be naive:1. Manipulation of supply and demand by the oil companies to intentionally create false shortages to drive up prices has been happening for quite some time and is no secret. 2. Do you think they all merged to be more competitive to keep prices low or create some sort of monopoly where there is less competition to further give them the ability to drive up prices. 3. Do you think they were talking about keeping oil prices low for the American people during the closed meetings with Vice President Dick Cheney or more along the lines of profits and how much our Government is willing to let such a special interest get away with. Last, let me make it clear. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH LEGITIMATE PROFITS, however I have a big problem with them when they claim business is tough and they continue to make record breaking profits and guess what? Our Government gives the oil companies billions for research when they should be using some of their record breaking profits!Screw Big SUV's:For big SUV's, I think they should have to pay more through some sort of annual tax. It pisses me off as well when I see people in big SUV's driving aggressively, obviously they have money to burn so tax the sh** out of those people. For those asking "what others should do" - my recommendation for those who haven't is stage 0, keep your car running to factory specificiation and you can usually restore fuel economy to better levels. Just by changing the O2 sensor in mine and gapping the OEM plugs a little wider I was able to get about 5 more MPG, of course I've also done other stage 0 stuff too.
