Greek 850 T-5/hopefully Over 340hp.

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, sorry for being disappeared,so many days from the message board, and thanks to everyone who did not closed my topic.I was really busy here with the workshop.

Well I made some progress with the car.

HPIM0443.jpg

here you can see the two head gaskets that I bought. The OEM 850 was to put on,but then I found there is and another that fits. And Zaitz helped me with it.I measured them and the S60R gasket seems to be thinner than the 850 OEM.

HPIM0439.jpg

I finally found the ARP kit for the cylinder head. From KLracing.seCan someone help me with the fitting of the studs, with the correct application of the lubricant and with the tightening torque of the nuts?I know that I must search but believe me I don't have free time.

HPIM0440.jpg

I put on the intercooler, radiator and condeser. The intercooler is also from KLracing, and has 60mm core.

HPIM0441.jpg

Another view of the intercooler on the car.

HPIM0442.jpg

And another one.It seems to be ok.I have to find a way and reinforce the mounting of the intercooler because it is too heavy for the radiator to keep it fine.

I also have put the crankshaft on,the pistons with the rods, but I think that the bore that JE gives for the engine block is too much. And a experienced tuner who saw the rings of the pistons, said"they are from japan and very cheap quality"Thanks guys...I also want to buy from someone a bigger TB.If someone knows something or has just pm. me.

Here is the T connection for the oil warning bulb and the sensor for the oil temp.

Pistons are finally in all of them, today is the time for the cylinder head

Here is my good friend Leon.Always stands by me.

These ARP studs are finally on.

My uncle had the idea to put the engine there to rebuild it,also the"special tool"he manufactured it.

Two things make me worry for now, what exhaust manifold to put on,and that I have to wait until 24th of August to go and manufacture a lightweight pulley.

lookin' good!

My T5 motor w/ h-beams, etc.. is going in my car tomorrow (the old one is mostly disconnected - just have to pull the bevel gear & drop the cradle/motor/trans)- I still have to paint some of the ancillary mounting plates, so it's taking longer than it should....

Kimonas, I believe that this manifold is the best for your application.

And no reason for lightweight pulley, compared with the cost.

I thought it was determined that there would be turbo fitment/clearance issues if using the ATP manifold on an 850?

I think it will work, but you have to mount the tubo backwards. I would use an "s60r" mani for the power level your looking for, but you could always get something custom made if you can find a good sop and are willing to pay.

Agreed, especially given the wastegate location on that thing, it's friggin murder.

An R manifold here in Greece costs about 500 euros, brand new.For second hand it is quite difficult to find.

So I have these options, and please you all guys help me out with this.

1:Volvo OEM R manifold -500 euro

2:ATP manifold-303 euro(ship incl.) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ATP-Volvo-C...35456QQtcZphoto

3:MotorNord.312 euro+shipping. http://www.motornord.se/system/webshop_sho...=2289_2341_5093

4:custom made tubular-1300-1600 euro, and don't know what the result will be.....

I prefer to put something better than the R manifold, otherwise I will leave mine in place.

What do you say guys?

Kimonas.

Option (2): It looks really nice. But it’s not giving external port as an option and comes with T25/T28 flange...

Option (3): You can use it with external, and you can choose between T25 and T3 flange.

I would use that manifold and probably i would made a cryogenic treatment on that.

Even better, i would use a complete T5 Turbo Kit, for GT3076R or GT3071R.

Most of the parts will be bolt on, with out spending time searching around for parts or machine shops to produce costume parts.

At the end, the engine compartment will look very tight.

Wow, a tubular manifold for under $500? Anyone use this or know if they are decent? I know shipping to the states would be expensive, but even then it might be worth it if the manifold is good.

It has a t25/t28 flange and no provision for an external wastegate. I hate to break it to ya, but that is not a terribly useful manifold.

I mean, you could have the wastegate stuff added, but why, so you can run a wastegate on your T25 and make less than stock hp? :monkey:

R manifold with a T3/TO4E w/ a ATP ultimate wastegate housing or similar and call it a day. It will fit properly, flow ok, and be reliable and straightforward.

Either that or custom tubular, which is going to be overkill for 340hp- unless you plan on cranking it up more in the future. If you think you might push it to 400hp or more then I'd think about a fabricated solution- primarily for the sake of wastegating than anything.
