OK, then why are you adding fuel to my fire?

And please find some examples of negative feedback of the iPd chip.

There are plenty. Search for IPD stage 3 failure. Talk to JHEI.......Joseph. But lets not turn this into another one of "those" threads. Its been beat to death.

waits for Don Kalmar's appearance.

I am "adding fuel to your fire" because I am trying to end the debate you started in this thread. Also, I am a supporter of ST, so if you mention something negative about it, I am going to stick up for it.

I can not find any recent, good examples of negative feedback of the IPD chip. I will say that it is known to be a more conservative tune, as compared to others.

Why are you even starting the fire? Adam responded to your needless responses within a vendor groupbuy thread in a very articulate way (shit...can't believe I said that...lol). If you are really seeking out the pros and cons to IPD, RICA, and ST chips, then search or start yet another thread of this beaten subject.

I didn't mean to start a fire. I posted something about iPd and everyone using the ST chip decided to stick up for it. I have been as objective as possible in my reasoning, and was met by a firewall of protest. Thanks, though. And anyway, I decided to take this conversation out of this thread into PMs with Adam. If you were more interested in ending this "debate" than fueling it, I doubt you would have posted what you did. PM if you need.

So 17psi in first gear... right? Thats why Im happy I got my dual stage boost controller!

I never hit that much in 1st gear! :D Most I ever saw was 4-5 psi, and that was me being stupid.

Ipd is completely out of the question for me. Aside from a good reputation, they dont offer anything else in my opinion.

Reputation and Swedish tuning are kind of important. I wouldn't hesitate to get the ST for this price.

Somebody needs to clean up this thread.

Are you implying that as a good or bad thing? That ultimately allows more to go wrong correct?

any chip ultimately allows more to go wrong

i have had no problems with my ST chip

it does run a bit rich, but performance wise it works perfectly well for the 2+ years i've had it

Dyno tuned ST chip in this deal would be 450 ish plus 80 an hour for dyno time.

So for 600 you could have a damn near perfect tune.

ST tunes only run rich if you havent done a good stage zero. This deal is killer and if anyone gets this and doesnt completely like it ill give you 10 bucks

hmm governement stimulus check might just have to go to oliver

Here are some questions that may be usefull in your FAQ for the ST group buy:

Type of ECU programming:

-Software based such as IPD where there is no soldering involved

or

-Chip removed from ECU, reprogrammed then resoldered into ECU

Typical turn around time once they receive the ECU?

There procedure to handle ECU's that have problems and need to be fixed. They cover shipping, expedated turnaround etc.?

There warranty and what is covered. ie: If your ECU is damaged beyond repair will they provide you with a new ecu.

As with all programmed ECU's it's best to get a spare and have your orig. one as a backup if this is your daily driver.

I liked my ST chip (one of the first 17psi ones) enough that I started doing these GBs (this is the third one I've done here) so others could enjoy a solid low buck chip. I have read that they go rich in the middle (better than leaning out, right?), but please note that I also have had better overall fuel economy versus my stock chip. One VSer, in fact, liked my ST ECU so much he never gave it back. <_<

So I had to buy another to get tuned this time as well.

From what I have gleaned from VS is if you have big $$$ get a custom dynoed RICA tune which tend to be great (and can also give you some snob appeal ;) ). But if you want a good dependable low-buck chip with incredible mid-throttle torque and straight out of the box V8 killing ability get one of these ($235!). IpD has supported Volvo's with quality products since the stone age, but their chip is or was last time I looked a moderate 15psi tune and costs 2x or more than what I have offered up. Take your pick.

I answered all PMs this morning.

This thread is to see who is interested in the GB

If you want to bash the ST chips, start another thread.

If you want research them, use the search function.

IPD is about to release a much more aggressive off the shelf tune, but I still don't see them beating this price. So where's the official list how many ppl are in? im excited.
