ST = best bang for buck, you wont blow up.. lots have run it

IPD = more conservative, typical volvo driver that likes his turbo

RICA = more hardcore, may want some remaps down the road.

AFR's have a HUGE effect on how an engine performs, you're just being silly.

I know enough about cars to understand what AFRs are and what they do. I have a wideband, so it would have been pretty silly of me to spend all that money on something for a bunch of flashing numbers if I didn't know what they meant.

I think your explanation above pretty much sums up what I was trying to say. I also get what you are saying about AFR, but that was on your car, and your car was not stock.

CUSTOM DYNO TUNING WITH THIS CHIP.......do it. You can pay for this initial tune to begin with and then later on when you have the extra time and money to get to a dyno and pay Oliver the extra $200 for the tuning you can do it.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CUSTOM TUNING UP FRONT.

Yes.

As you can see in the pictures below:

---

For the 850 Turbo:

ST advertises a 50hp increase and a 100tq increase

IPD advertises a 53hp increase and a 44tq increase

RICA advertises a 48hp increase and a 80tq inrease

The IPD tune which is 14.5 psi advertises the biggest HP increase, while the RICA and ST tunes are mapped for more boost.

Now, I dont have dyno graphs to back up my claims, but I highly doubt that two identical cars in the exact same condition would have a SIGNIFICANTLY different output based on whether they were using a ST tune or RICA tune. Also, the numbers are inflated to a degree.

And the turbonator has 7% hp gains! You can't go off their own claims unless you have unbiased evidence to support it.

And for the record, your figures are wrong. Both ST and IPD are claiming EQUAL horsepower gains. Note that ST rounded the stock horsepower from 222 up to 225, creating the 3hp difference. So, they claim equal HP. As for RICA, they are claiming 288 on the conical 15G cars, from 222 = 66 claimed hp.

IPD's claimed figures are also assuming you have their IPD cat-back. RICA figures are also assuming a cat-back.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the ST torque figures are in NM, not ft/lb's

None of those 3 company's charts are in agreement on what the factory torque was

I just noticed that too. ST is in NM, so it's gain is roughly 73ft/lbs for the T5 and a little less for the 'overboost' R (US auto).

Actually ST and Rica basically agree on the torque if you convert the NM to ft/lbs by dividing by ~1.36.

Anyone know what the turn around is on this? Cant really have my car out of commission for more than a few days.

Oliver had me back on the road in 48 hours and I live 15 hours away from him.

any chance this buy will happen soon and i'd have my ecu back to me by the end of the month?, i got a dyno day with the local euro club on the 31'st, would love to rub the noses of some VAG guys

How many do we have now? Is my first post tally still correct? C'mon get your friends to get one so this can work. Remember 'peer pressure'. ;)

Gotta check my bank account when I get home, but I'm pretty much in for this one. about 75% sure I'll be able to do it, if my parents don't get mad about me spending my own money... heh.
