Yeah you have to buy first. I know whenever I go car shopping they always tell me not expect any service at all until I buy something. And if I buy something too cheap they are going to make fun of me and call me poor and immature.

It is a sad state of affairs that money is still what does a lot of talking with sales people and vendors.

I met an Audi guy are Carlisle telling me a story of how a Merc dealer discriminated him by the way he looked. He casually walked into a Merc dealer in Germany wearing some jeans and a t-shirt. He wait about 10 minutes and still no one approached him. He eventually walked over to a sales person and said "Hey I would like to buy this car!" (pointing toward a high end Mercedes on the show floor). The sales person said "I'm sorry but we don't just sell Mercedes to any person off the street." The customer became quite disgruntled and had the manager brought out. He gave the manager his piece of mind and basically said that if you don't start treating everyone with respect and with the same degree of customer service then you are more than simply going to head straight out of business. He pulled $70,000 in cash out of his pocket and said "this is as close as you are going to come to getting this" and then walked out. He walked straight across the street and bought a BMW.

The point is that a company will loose a lot of loyalty and sales and business if they discrimate and decide that they will only help a certain kind of person. I have had many people PM and email me with HID questions who have bought a kit elsewhere. I am always more than happy to help because I do genuinely want to and I believe it is good business. Nothing pleases me more than receiving a compliment letting me know that I have gone above and beyond the person's expectations. It disgusts me how many times I hear of other vendors and retail venues not even sending a simple response to these customers with information or a note saying they have no information - the customers are simply Ignored!

I used to support a vendor on here (I won't mention any name) but been trying to get a replacement part for almost two months now with email communication (via their website) that basically asking me the same question 3 times after I supplied them with all the information along with screen shot of Paypal transaction history. Needless to say, I'll contact John within two weeks for a new pair of HID ballast. :D

Hey there guys, as most of you know I'm relatively new to this board; however I would like to extend my thank yous to everyone that makes this site a great place to hang out on. I'm originally from V70R.com and still hang there all the time, but coming here has allowed me to expand my friendship horizons. I went to Carlisle last year and met only a small handfull of people...this year I met a ton of new people and we had a blast....especially on Saturday night hanging out in the Volvospeed booth with the boys...and the crazy girl too...lolol.

Just wanted to say thanks for being welcomed to the herd!!!

As for the vendors...I've had great success dealing with everyone I've encountered.

Ben - with his stud kit...awesome stuff!!! Fast shipping to Canada and mine went right in with no issues.

John - with his HID kits...what can be said already that hasn't been...dude you are awesome!

Scott/IPD - only have the sway bar kit from them, but I've talked to Scott in the past about other issues and he was awesome!!

Adam(Owned) - awesome to deal with as well...bro you rock!!!

George @ Viva - never dealt with him for anything yet...nothing to say...either good or bad.

Last, but not least...Frank @ EST!!! Anyone that knows my car....knows that it is basically a rolling EST showroom of sorts. Frank has always gone over and above for me with everything I've ever asked for. He gets my call first and then if he can't deliver on something...he will help me find where I can get it from. That is first class in my books!!!

Carlisle is/was a blast...I only wish we could find a way to get together another time of the year (late summer) in a more central area to try and get some of the midwest/west cars out too.

In closing...thanks to everyone that makes this site a cool place...the haters too! We can't all like the same things...that would be boring as hell.

Peace y'all

Craig

we should all be thankful both vs and vendors have evolved maturely... only a few years ago posts on vs was constantly turning into pissy fights and trolls had run amuck. and having more than just ipd as the lone primary aftermarket vendor in the u.s. (as it was in the mid 90s) is definitely a plus as well (it is great to seem them keeping up with the new models too).

There is a huge young population here. A lot of us have recently or are still in the process of graduating higher education.

man, don't make me feel so old val

u know, that happened to me once too, here in the bay area <_< .. never went back to that mb dealer...

VS is a great forum where most of us have learned tons about our cars. It is about sharing information and in that it succeeds remarkably well.

Vendors are just that, vendors. Those that deliver a quality product and good service will, regardless of price point, get repeat and new business and lots of "word of mouth" here on this site.

Bravo.

With other vendors like Frank, Sig, And Lucky out there I would like you all to think about them next time you consider purchasing from George or Viva.

George carries, or can get lots of parts nobody else will for the S80, and he's always been great to me. i buy from others if they have the parts, but few really do.

we should do a like meet here in SFL

anywho in response to chuck, the post was insightful and its nice to get a general idea of where things stand, so to speak. (i'll pony up and become a suporting member, somthing i've slacked on for a while)

i like my stay at VS though in all my stupidity ive proven to be a re-post whore/dummy lol but still when i ask for help the vs community lends a helping hand to which i am thankful, god knows i would not have my car right now, or prolly even a working volvo if it were not for the community, more acutely Ben, Joe, Eric, Rene, George @ viva, and chuck, so thanks to you and to everyone else

i havent dealt with too many a dealer here but specifically Tom TBone, George @ viva, and Joe are whom i purchased most my mods from. Tom was awsome, excellent service everything great awsome product too. we all know about joe,his name ubiquitous for his sales ediqutte.

now george, i havent spoken to him in a long time...a few years now, though he helped me alot and got me a deal on samco hoses, red ones, as well as gave me information about them and other stage 0 components.

he did help me and did ship everything in a timely manner. though then i didnt know too much about what i needed and while trying to figure things out and asking george for help he kinda blew me off... i was more than willing to spend more money with him as the initial transaction to me was above satisfactory... but he just didnt do more then that i can only guess, i dont really care either but he surely would have gotten more of my money for certain mods soon there after. it is all i can say his loss. i haven't heard his bashing of VS or really seen anyone complian about him. i hope whatever happend that things become better with him and VS.

thanks again chuck for keeping VS alive and well
