Ipd
Thanks for the review Adam, I appreciate your willingness to test out new products. As for the HD TCV fitting cars that use the round BCS, I will be working on offering one for those cars shortly. The main difference is in the orifice restriction. The HD TCV we currently offer has the aluminum portion of the valve custom spec'd for proper operation. In M4.4 and ME7 models the orifice in the factory TCV is intentionally and our valve had to match that. For BCS models the orifice is different and while it did work in testing there were some erratic boost conditions from time to time and I suspect that is why.Once my prototype gets here I'll continue testing and verify its operation.I'll likely have valves ready for 850 models in the near future, probably toward the middle of July.I'll be providing a special discount for VS members shortly on this part, but didn't want to offer it until we have more units in stock. The next batch is coming in on or about June 30th.Let me know if anyone has questions. MeanGreenSwedeMachine
I'm also curious about this? Is it an actual upgrade or just a higher quality replacement?

db130
To rephrase my question, can the Syclone solenoid work as a drop-in replacement on a stock tune provided that i can fabricate a wiring harness with the pigtail described belowlink
Ipd
in what application is it worth to spend $90 for this vs < $40 for a new oem?If you can get a factory BCS for $40 new that is some deal. Volvo retail shows $100.12 for part# 1271630Where are you getting such a good deal on the BCS?As for the Ipd TCV, the purpose of the valve is two fold.Longevity and more consistent performance. The factory valves are somewhat lazy or lethargic and doesn't do a terribly great job of controlling boost precisely.Since the TCV effectively blocks pressure to the wastegate to allow further boost development, it is desirable for a TCV to prevent any leaking of boost pressure past the pintle. The translates to more linear boost development and less boost overshoot. This does not do anything for boost surge during shift (namely automatics) as that is a function of CBV, etc.Another issue is just the general operation life, the factory TCV (not BCS as much) are failing in as little as 5-7K miles in more extreme cases. I have two customers who have failures in the P2 R models frequently enough to have purchased 3 factory TCV's in the last 18 months. So in a nutshell that's the purpose for an HD TCV.
