R conversion continued
Forgort to mention, adding side directionals.
Here is a pic of the interior as of Aug 2010.
As Autumn 2010 wore on, the Volvo developed oil and coolant leaks, one particular oil leak was bad enough to damage the bearings in the turbo, and leave the undercarriage awash in oil.
Several hundred more dollars were spent on fixing the leaks, as well as an exhaust leak.
In February of 2011, during a trip to the wrecking yard, I had the surprise of my life. There in the yard sat a white 97' 850R with black interior. There were my seats, R bumper, door sills, door inserts, CPU, and hand brake.
The old turbo got replaced with another 16T (this time for a whopping $250). Since February, the following changes have taken place: R 628 ECU, wiring harness, white injectors, extra amp, walnut dash, two tone black / tan interior, S40 steering wheel (on the idea of the 2000 V70R wheel), meteor wheels, new high speed rated tires, automatic climate control conversion, new brakes, many replacement parts to the steering.
At the moment the starter bendix gear is on the fritz, so I will blow out the starter with a new one (current one has had 186+k miles of service).
I decided to paint the car dark gray metallic, and decided not to do white on the roof, just the center of the hood.
New pictures will be posted when I get my camera fixed / replaced.
