Trouble Fitting Omp Strut Brace.

So my OMP bar from Motorspot arrived by fedex this afternoon. Joy. Well, I go to install it, and I just could not get it to clear the 3 bolts of the upper strut mount. Suddenly joy is gone.

I was wondering if any other 70 series guys had trouble fitting the OMP strut brace on their cars. Besides having to remove the bracket for the fuse box, it still wouldn't clear the last of the 3 bolts by a millimeter or 2. Did I miss something like needing to load or unload the weight on the struts?

You know it's funny, I looked over that before I went ahead remove the brace from the packaging...

It never crossed my mind to get out a file...

summer Chemistry classes and common sense don't go hand in hand I guess.

i installed mine last night.

install the passenger side first (after appropriate dremeling) and tighten it down. then place the driver side and tighten it down until you have proper clearance for the through bolt on the nuckle. slide the bolt though, tighten it down well, and finish tightening the driver side. worked for me but the previous owner had already dremeled.

you're lucky others got to you first.

lol. Nah, it was all me making an jerk of myself. :P

Well, it took a good bit of dremeling and even more finagling to get it on and seated, but it's finally on. I have to say, without any other suspension modifications, my first impression was that it made the handling a lot more stable on sharp turns. The first thing that came to my mind was the car just feels a lot more solid. Nice for a one-off $150 upgrade.

Now I just need upgrade to QBM endlinks, Delrin control arm bushings, replace the stock suspension with weitecs, and get IPD sways and it should handle just fine.

I've found my car is really a pain whore in disguise, she likes it rough. To reinstall my OMP bar (or deinstall when needed), I usually need a long prybar, a rubber mallet and a very large ball-peen hammer. You kids just need to learn to play rough.
