Slevin
Hi!I've an '99 2.0T(B4204T).If I changed the turbo cams to N/A cams, won't the pistons and valves reach each other?and is it worthy to 14t turbo?
theForgottenone
Some more new info regarding the timing setting for the N/A cam vs Turbo cam from lucky at IPD.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Here's my findings as it relates to timing cams when converting from turbo to N/A:Intake:The N/A intake cam starts its opening 4 degrees sooner than the turbo intake cam.Given that, if you want to maintain the same overlap that a turbo cam set has you would retard the N/A intake cam by 4 degrees.Exhaust:The N/A exhaust cam starts its opening 2 degrees later than the turbo cam, AND the N/A exhaust cam has a total duration that is an additional 4.5 degrees longer than the turbo exhaust cam (as measured at the cam).So since the lobe lift starts 2 degrees later and continues 4.5 degrees longer you would want to advance this cam by 6.5 degrees to maintain the same overlap as a turbo cam set. Here's the cam timing tool setting the intake cam at 4 degrees retardedhttp://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/topic/144453-sucker-free-zone/Now the info above is just to maintain the same amount of overlap that a turbo cam set has in stock form. The conversation around exhaust backpressure (EBR) and how much overlap is acceptable is a conversation in itself. I'll be installed a set of pre-post turbo gauges permanently in my car so I can explain how to calculate EBR in the near future.Cam specs for 850 models (remember duration degrees below are measure in regard to crankshaft degrees [x2] )GLTIntake:250dr duration 0.332 inch liftExhaust:252,6dr duration 0.332 inch liftT5Intake:242dr duration 0.312 inch liftExhaust:243,5dr duration 0.312 inch lift"

ByTor
YES! YES!! YES!!! A DEGREE WHEEL!!!! OK, a number of questions regarding our engine. Will the stock solid lifters work? Is there any piston to valve clearance issues with these cams? What is the target HP for stock 12T and 14T engines? What is the power band with 12T and 14T respectively? Looks like you folks have set up suggested timingsand a video is coming? Very good!
