JDELUNA
I put the VOLVO Vinyl decals I won from Ebay, on mine and clear coated them about 4-5 coats to seal the decals in, and also put them in my oven for about 30 minutes to have them cure. SO far it has been close to a year since I did my calipers and they still look great. They do get dirty with brake dust , but I just spray them off and then they look new again. God Bless :)
stick70
Nice write-up! I wouldn't want to use the oven method though, my wife would KILL me (literally).she'll get over it eventually hopefully, me and my dad used to cook go-kart slick tires in moms oven
Che'_Moderator
I'm sure there's a write up on this somewhere. I couldn't find it, but I wanted to do a write up of how I paint my calipers.http://volvospeed.com/Mods/caliperpaint.htmAnd if you use a propper 2 part paint the catalyst will remove the need for heat to cure the paint. Mike H.
by the way, did you take the bolts off the calipers? How hard was it to rebuild the caliper?
drPheta
I took off the bleeder nipples, pistons, and seals from the calipers. The large bolts that hold the halves together stayed and painted (thats how they are stock, and that's how Porsche does it). Rebuilding a 4 pot caliper is pretty simple. For the general public, I'd rate it a 5 on (1 being easy like headlight bulbs, 10 being an engine rebuild). A write up for the caliper rebuild is coming.
